With our son in the University of Iowa College of Education REACH program, I have a natural and obvious bias toward "Including #Neurodiversity in the Workplace." That said, if the concept is unfamiliar or you would just like to know more and help educate employers, this recent article is a great entry point. Well done, Katie Abrams, Phd, and team! #inclusion #brainhealth #mentalhealth #neurodivergence #hiring

I am thrilled to join in celebrating Neurodiversity Awareness Week, a time to recognize and honor the unique perspectives and experiences of individuals in our community. The concept of neurodiversity challenges the idea of a single "right" way of thinking and encourages us to appreciate the diverse range of neurological differences, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dyspraxia. I am personally committed to championing neurodiversity and am proud to be part of the efforts at my workplace to promote awareness and acceptance. Ericsson has recently launched the Neurodiversity & Allies Employee Resource Group (ERG) to help foster a more inclusive environment. Embracing neurodiversity in the workplace is key to unleashing the full potential of a diverse workforce and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. Did you know that an estimated 15-20% of the global population is neurodivergent? Chances are, you work alongside someone who is neurodivergent, highlighting the importance of fostering inclusive and supportive environments for all. How does your organization support and empower neurodivergence in the workplace? 🧠 Unlocking the Power of Neurodiversity in the Workplace 🌟 Did you know that neurodiversity can be a superpower in the workplace? Neurodiversity is a term that describes the diversity of human brains and minds. At TamCalc - Get Funding Ready, we've witnessed firsthand how neurodiversity can play a significant role in our team dynamics. Our founder, Niall O'Gorman, for example, proudly embraces his ADHD as a superpower and weakness or potential blindspots, which he very much encourages the whole team to give open and honest feedback on. In our workplace, recognising and appreciating our team's diverse backgrounds is paramount. We know that simple solutions exist for many of the challenges that arise. The lessons from the era of COVID-19 have taught us that flexibility in work arrangements can open doors to endless opportunities. For example, we offer flexible work arrangements and noise-cancelling headphones to support team members who need them. Coupled with flexible work, effective communication is key. We understand that different team members have different work hours, and that's perfectly fine. We've agreed that immediate responses to messages are not mandatory when working across different schedules. We've even scheduled internal emails to align with office hours, automatically held and sent at a time that makes sense for the receiver, while allowing the sender to work as and when suits their style of work. The lesson we've learned is that embracing neurodiversity as a strength enhances our collective potential. By communicating effectively and understanding each team member's unique needs, we enable everyone to shine. Neurodiversity is not a challenge; it's an opportunity to bring out the best in ourselves and our teams. How does your workplace support neurodiversity? Share your insights, experiences, and ideas in the comments below. Let's continue this important conversation. 🌐💬 #Neurodiversity #InclusionMatters #WorkplaceDiversity #TamCalc (Original post was shared via Mark Fletcher)
