Our #CEO, Glenn Mandziuk and Director of Partnerships and Business Engagement, Patrick O' Meara, were delighted to come together to deliver the #keynotespeech at the International CHRIE Global #Conference, last month. Within the session, Glenn and Patrick provided an overview of the bold steps we're taking to drive #sustainable and #responsiblehospitality, including the development of the ground-breaking Pathway to Net Positive Hospitality, the innovative #NetPositive business #simulation and our game-changing new World #Academy for #SustainableHospitality. What's more, they shared insight on our #collaboration with ICHRIE, as we continue to work together to advance #sustainability #research, through the Global Research Marathon. We are delighted to have contributed to the #GlobalResearchMarathon on the day - sharing practical feedback with the teams who presented their progress at the event. The research marathon is dedicated to driving positive change across #environmentalsustainability, #socialresponsibility and #governance, by stimulating scholarly activities, fostering research that advances theoretical and scholarly publications, and facilitating collaboration across #ICHRIE members and industry partners. Congratulations to the winning teams within the 'Practical Research Track' who received their awards and gave their final presentations at the event! As the Finance Research Head at Symbiosis Economics Club (SEC), I had the incredible opportunity to lead my first event—the Mock Stock event at Reverb@24. This experience not only deepened my understanding of finance 📊 but also taught me invaluable lessons in event management 🎯. ✨ Creating the Right Ambience One of the key takeaways was the importance of ambience. We utilized music 🎶 and lighting 💡 to set the mood, making the environment inviting and engaging for participants. The right playlist helped energize the room and fostered a sense of excitement, encouraging attendees to interact and immerse themselves in the event. 🚀 Building Interest Over Time Initially, we faced challenges with low attendance and interest. However, as word spread and more groups began to join, we saw a remarkable ramp-up in participation. This taught me that sometimes, it takes a little time for momentum to build. Engaging with attendees personally and highlighting the unique aspects of the event helped turn the tide. 📚 Key Learnings: 👉 Engagement is Crucial: Creating an inviting atmosphere can significantly impact participation. ⏳ Patience Pays Off: Initial disinterest can transform with strategic outreach and a positive environment. 🤝 Collaboration Matters: Encouraging teamwork among participants not only enhanced their experience but also fostered networking opportunities. Leading this event as my first initiative in this position has equipped me with skills that extend beyond finance—skills that are essential for any successful event. I look forward to applying these insights in future initiatives! 🌟 #Finance #EventManagement #Leadership #MockStock #Networking #FirstEvent

🚀 Maximising the Economic and Social Value of Research Portfolios: Successful Completion of Our Pilot Programme! 🚀 I was thrilled to see the successful delivery of the final session of our latest innovative training programme 'Research to Value', which aims to unlock the latent commercial opportunities hidden within research portfolios. Great to work with Zach Sorrells to create this programme after we had a flash of inspiration talking to Orla Kelly who commissioned it. It saw pairs of professional service staff and researchers buddy up to learn an innovation management process to define commercial opportunities and the unknowns associated with them. The pairs learned ‘fast and cheap’ methods essential for validating and quantifying opportunities to fit within the time constraints of competing work priorities. This 'live case study' methodology ensured the programme was output-focused and an investment of time rather than taking time out. Six pairs from different Scottish Universities took part and the feedback has been amazing. We’ll share more fully what we’ve learned when we’ve completed the evaluation. If you want to hear more about the programme we're hosting a webinar in July - Sign up now ⇨ https://lnkd.in/gKiAZT8w Thank you to everyone who contributed to this success! Today I popped into the office of ZCCE Zurich Centre for Creative Economies and found the freshly printed edition of the CIRCE - Creative Impact Research Centre Europe Report. 1 year, 5 research labs, 13 impact projects, 40 young fellows across Europe in 180 pages of final report (link to the digital edition in comments). It was a blast being project lead of the Zurich research lab. Together with our researcher we kept exploring entrepreneurial strategies within the #creativeeconomies. Three main findings crystallised in all our studies: 🎯 we don't need four-year strategy plans, we need continuous strategy processes. 🧨 We don't need ex ante definitions of results, but rather high-risk projects. 🎒 We don't need a narrow understanding of resources in terms of financial means, but a holistic view that includes values, governance and stakeholders. Even though the project has come to an end, many of these ideas are being further developed in the For Planet Strategy Lab – not only with the creative economies but with all organizations. #creativeeconomies #entrepreneurialstrategies #creativeimpact ZHdK Zürcher Hochschule der Künste PS: Credits to my co-founder and friend Samuel Huber for (maybe) having an impact on the report title, as he was part of our research lab and wrote his dissertation not about Prototyping Collaboration, but Prototyping Strategies 😎

To become the #1 globally recognized institute, it’s essential to have a deep understanding of cultural nuances, political climates, policies, and the current leaders in various regions. Additionally, staying attuned to futurist movements is crucial for driving research, support, and the evolution of terms and methodologies. True longevity and relevance hinge on continuous innovation and actively engaging the next generation. Throughout my experience, I have witnessed institutes rise to prominence only to lose their relevance due to a lack of innovation and failure to capture the interest of new, emerging minds. At SMRI, we are committed to learning from the past, focusing on current issues, and preparing for future challenges from an inclusive, holistic perspective. We approach our mission with the understanding that to stay ahead, we must not only address the present but also anticipate and shape future developments. This means fostering a culture of constant learning and adaptability, ensuring that our strategies and methods evolve with the changing landscape. Moreover, we believe in the importance of creating space for the next generation. By keeping an open mind and maintaining a seat at the table for young, innovative thinkers, we ensure that fresh ideas and perspectives are continuously integrated into our work. This forward-thinking approach allows us to remain relevant and influential in an ever-evolving world. This mindset is far from ordinary. It challenges conventional thinking and emphasizes the importance of inclusivity, adaptability, and continuous growth. By embracing these principles, SMRI strives to lead the way in research and innovation, setting a standard for institutes worldwide.
