On today’s International Nurses Day, let’s take a moment to acknowledge the backbone of elder care! 🩺
In Austria alone, over 460,000 seniors rely on professional nursing services—a figure expected to rise to more than 650,000 by 2050. Despite this growing demand, there's already a shortage of skilled workers in the sector. This urgency drives us at 120 Ventures to explore innovative solutions that will bridge the gap and meet this pressing need for effective, sustainable, and accessible elder care!
Interestingly, elder care in Austria is predominantly female, both among caregivers and those receiving care. More than 70% of seniors in residential and nursing services are women, and this pattern holds true across other care services as well. On the caregiving front, women account for more than three-quarters of professional nursing staff and two-thirds of all family caregivers nationwide.
With this in mind, a heartfelt thank you to everyone, especially all the women, who keep our care systems together! And since today is also Mother's Day, a special shout-out goes out to all the mothers as well!
