Today 22nd May 2024 is the inaugural International Building Safety Day (IBSD) – a single day to spotlight the importance of building safety and the people who work in the building safety industry around the world. As you may know, ICC has been supporting the celebration of Building Safety Month every May for over 40 years. There is wide recognition of this month-long celebration across the United States, and some international jurisdictions have picked up on it in recent years. However, a month-long celebration is a bit daunting for most stakeholders outside of the U.S. to consider, so this year there is a single day – May 22 – to invite stakeholders around the world to join together in recognition of the importance of building safety.
