How Long Should You Stop at a Stop Sign? • The duration of the stop isn’t determined in many state laws. It is, however, a common notion that drivers should stop at a stop sign for at least three seconds before proceeding. • A rolling stop can be considered as running a stop sign. Failure to stop at a stop sign can result in several consequences, depending on which state you committed the violation. • Stop signs are generally red, octagonal figures with a white margin and text. Every driver knows what a stop sign is. It’s commonly a big, octagonal red plate with the word “STOP” printed in white. This sign has one instruction only, and you don’t need rocket science to figure it out. Still, there are a couple of underlying regulations that come with the stop sign, including the stopping duration and who has the right of way when there’s a four-way stop. I don't think private companies should be in charge of enforcing laws. State and private corporations may be separate in order so that there are no conflicts of interest. A) nobody should profit from enforcing law, this should solely be responsibility of the state and its law enforcement, for profit law enforcement may incentivize executives to be creative about how to generate more revenue, but law is not business. B) it may give companies and individuals working as private entity enforcing the laws some sense of entitlement that they should be excluded from effect of law they enforce (eg. like Garda are from speeding, using phones etc. when they are in squad car). I did not get a speeding ticket but I've seen one of these speed vans break 3 or 4 rules of the road in a span of less than a minute (including speeding).

Prof. Rory Bahadur's latest article, "Reconceptualizing Ford as the Jurisprudential Vehicle Driving Interstate Federalism off the Specific Personal Jurisdictional Map?" has been accepted for publication by the Tennessee Law Review. The article suggests an interpretation of the Supreme Court's 2021 decision in Ford v. Montana, that results in a personal jurisdictional analysis that is applicable to current commercial realities.
