Our O2 champion of the day. Indra is an incredible young man who brightens our clinic once a fortnight travelling over 45 minutes to make his sessions with our exercise physiologist @mikayla.jorgensen. She has improved his movement patterning, functional capacity and fatigue following a removal of a brain tumour. This young man’s success and progress is an incredible reflection of his positive fun attitude and a reflection of him never being scared to take on a challenge. Thank you for the positivity you share and being the friendly go getter you are. You are an inspiration to our team members and our clients who have challenges of their own. A good reminder to everyone on the impact mindset has on progress and success!! #braintumor #o2champion #exercisephysiology

Boost Your Brain with Exercise: The Neuroscience of Physical Activity Imagine doing something right now that could instantly lift your mood, sharpen your focus, and safeguard your brain from depression and Alzheimer's. You can – through physical exercise! Wendy Suzuki a neuroscience professor, discovered the incredible brain-boosting effects of exercise. Here are the key findings: 🧠 Immediate Benefits: Just one workout can boost neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, enhancing your mood and focus for at least two hours. 🔍 Long-Lasting Effects: Consistent exercise increases the size of the hippocampus, improving memory and attention. 💓 Protective Power: Regular physical activity strengthens brain areas vulnerable to neurodegenerative diseases, like the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. You don't need to be a triathlete. Just 30 minutes of aerobic exercise, three to four times a week, can transform your brain and enhance your life. Start today and feel the difference! 🦄 Can “physiotherapy” be VERSATILE? 🦄 . This question recently popped up in my mind 💥 Can you as a physio adapt and adjust to a new different approaches towards healing? Do you actually have a wish to discover something beyond your “protocols” to better help a patient to recover? . Let me know in a comment if you ever tried to implement something different in your own practice that is out of the common physio principles 👍 #sport #physio #physiotherapy #newway #knowledge #holistic #wellnessmind

😭Shoulder pain holding you back?🙋🏽♂️ If you have resistance bands, try these two simple exercises to help reduce the pain. Start of with securing the band on a steady surface or door. 1️⃣Stand parallel to the object. Keeping your shoulders in a neutral position and elbow bent to 90 degrees, take a step outwards. Once you feel tension in the band, hold this position for about 5 seconds, then repeat. 2️⃣ Keep your shoulders in a neutral position and elbow bent to 90 degrees, take a step outwards. Once you feel tension in the band, move wrist away from your body while keeping your elbow where it is. Repeat. 💬Let us know in the comments if you've tried this exercise. #shoulderexercise #resistancebandexercise #shoulderpain #mobility #physiotherapy #physio #torontophysiotherapy #myphysioplus #yyzphysio #TO #physioto #toronto #bloorwestvillage #swansea

What’s the value in being able to test and address the entire functional envelope, including slow, medium and fast stretch shortening cycles? Sport happens at inherently high speeds. Some injuries happen exponentially quicker than our cortex and brain can even recognize 🧠 Having the ability to test clinical and physical qualities at specific time/rate of force development intervals helps reduce blind spots, and gives overall insight into both muscular and neurological adaptations. This is precisely why we place importance on bridging slower stretch shortening cycle tests like CMJ’s/SJ’s to faster stretch shortening cycle tests like Cyclic Hops and Drop Jumps. #sport #speed #ACL #brain #insights #data #time
