For those who are new, this challenge is all about educating people and helping them understand the fascinating world of body and exercise science . Each day, I dive into a different aspect of our amazing bodies in connection with fitness, shedding light on how they function and how we can take better care of them. Today, we’re focusing on Synovial Joints. Synovial joints, also known as diarthroses, are the most common and movable type of joint in the human body. Characterized by a fluid-filled synovial cavity, these joints allow for a wide range of motion. The articulating bone surfaces within a synovial joint are covered with hyaline cartilage, reducing friction and absorbing shock. The synovial fluid within the cavity lubricates the joint, further facilitating smooth movement. 🦵Reverse Nordics for strong knees 💪 The Reverse Nordic, also known as the "poor man's leg extension", can be a great exercise for rehabilitating quad strains, patellofemoral pain, patellar tendinopathy, or those wanting to build quad strength. 📚A 2018 study by Alonso-Fernandez, found that 8 weeks of reverse Nordic training resulted in significant increases in muscle fascicle length, muscle thickness, pennation angle & cross-sectional area. 🚨This is not an entry-level exercise, so regressions that could be used include: 🔹An assisted banded Reverse Nordic, or 🔹Isometric variations either a holding or a pushing isometric at varying angles 💪Once performing full range Reverse Nordics, weights can be added to make it more challenging.
