🌿 Time in Nature is More Important for Kids Than Ever 🌳 Just came across this insightful blog post from the NATIONAL RECREATION FOUNDATION, INC: Time in Nature is Even Better for Kids Than We Thought. https://lnkd.in/gRjncAEM The article dives into the profound benefits that spending time in nature has on children, from boosting their mental well-being to enhancing their cognitive development. In a world where screen time often overshadows outdoor play, it’s crucial to remember the simple yet powerful impact that nature can have on our young people's growth, health and happiness. As our communities continue to navigate many modern challenges, here at Oakland Goes Outdoors we are proud to prioritize getting youth in Oakland outside, exploring, and connecting with the world around them. It’s not just a break from routine—it’s essential for their future. #ChildDevelopment #OutdoorEducation #MentalHealth #PhysicalHealth #NatureBenefits #childreninnature #getoutside #diversifytheoutdoors #bayareanature

Top 10 Reasons I love CHOOSEWELL COMMUNITIES INC #6: We meet people where they are and walk alongside them as they navigate the path they are choosing to walk. "Life is slippery. Here, take my hand." H. Jackson Brown, Jr. What we believe... Parenting is tricky. Navigating new sobriety is equally so. Imagine doing both at the same time. The first five years of children’s lives are more critical to healthy brain development than the rest of their lifetimes. Meanwhile, the first three years of sobriety are predictive of long-term recovery. Since 2014, ChooseWell has faithfully journeyed with young families working to maintain sobriety while improving the health and well-being of their family. We are improving the odds of maintaining parental sobriety and stability during this fragile and precious time of their children’s development. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), which can range from neglect or abuse to substance misuse by a parent, are a shared root cause of many of society’s most challenging problems. ACEs and the resulting toxic stress are associated with serious physical, cognitive, social, and emotional consequences throughout the lifespan. Given the widespread prevalence of ACEs and their impact on a host of life outcomes, the philanthropic community should prioritize supporting families, communities, and state and local governments with ACE prevention and mitigation. https://lnkd.in/dciX9rMq #philanthropy #adversechildhoodexperiences #childhoodtrauma #childwellbeing #socialimpact #educationaloutcomes #health

Did you know that developmental disabilities are lifelong conditions that emerge during childhood and affect cognitive, physical, or behavioral functioning? This includes autism spectrum disorder (ASD), cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). 1 in 6 children have one or more developmental disabilities or other developmental delays. Despite progress in awareness and support, individuals with developmental disabilities still face stigma, discrimination, and barriers to inclusion in many aspects of life. At Positive Work, we are committed to helping create a more inclusive work landscape and society as a whole for those with developmental disabilities. Each person with a developmental disability is unique, with their own strengths, abilities, and potential for growth and contribution to society. ❤️ 💛 💙 Join us in our mission by following us on social media, signing up for our newsletter, and making a donation. https://lnkd.in/grb_QvJw Additionally, consider supporting other organizations dedicated to the developmental disability community, such as The Arc of the United States, National Down Syndrome Society, Easterseals, and Special Olympics. #developmentaldisabilities #disabilityinclusion #autismawareness #autism #downsyndrome #adhd #cerebralpalsy

On World Health Day, we reflect on the importance of not only physical health but also mental well-being. This year's theme, 'My health, my right', reminds us that everyone deserves access to quality health services, education, and support. At Kids Up Front, we understand the profound impact of social connection on mental health, especially for children. Did you know that loneliness is becoming increasingly prevalent, especially among kids? In our upcoming annual report we will share research that shows that despite being more connected than ever through technology, many children still feel a sense of isolation. That's where our community comes in. Source: National Library of Medicine: https://lnkd.in/gRNEaH-Q 🎟️✨ Thanks to your generous donations, Kids Up Front provides children with opportunities to experience the magic of live events, creating moments of joy, connection, and belonging. Whether it's cheering at a game, laughing at a show, or exploring new adventures, these experiences bring kids together and remind them that they're not alone. Let's continue to break down barriers to health and happiness. Together, with our community agencies, we can ensure that every child has the chance to thrive and feel a sense of belonging. #WorldHealthDay #MyHealthMyRight #KidsUpFront #Connection #Belonging #CommunitySupport #MoreThanATicket #DonateTickets #StrongCommunities #CreateJoy #Inclusion #ForCommunityForever #HockeyFansInTheStands #CIBCtheatreforall #TheatreForAll World Health Organization

This quote is a powerful reminder of what truly matters. No matter how ambitious our professional goals are or how much success we achieve in our careers, the most meaningful work is often the love, support, and effort we put into our homes and families. Whether it's nurturing relationships, raising children, or simply creating a space of peace and joy, these are the moments that shape who we are at our core. Let’s never forget that the legacy we leave at home is just as important, if not more, than the one we build outside of it. 💗 #WorkLifeBalance #PersonalGrowth #HomeLifeMatters

As we wind down week 3 of National Recovery Month I wanted to share the focus and purpose for this week. As we begin next week, I'll create another poster to help promote recovery awareness tomorrow. Week 3 (Sep 15–21): Purpose This week we highlight the importance of purpose as a motivator for positive change. Key Message: Finding purpose in life may be a powerful driver for recovery. Purpose includes meaningful daily activities. Employment can support recovery, give a sense of purpose, and a way to provide for yourself and your family. Purpose may include a job, school, volunteering, caregiving, or creative pursuits. Spirituality can bring a sense of purpose and meaning that helps foster recovery. Helping others can bring a great sense of purpose and contribute to recovery.
