City of Oakland’s Post

Following a homicide in the 2200 block of East 12th Street on January 14, the City of Oakland initiated an emergency closure of a nearby encampment due to an imminent threat to public safety. The hazardous living conditions, including recent fires, homicide, and other criminal activity, including the presence of multiple stolen vehicles, led to the closure as it posed an immediate danger to residents.

Looked liked an imminent threat to public safety before the homicide. It shouldn’t take a murder for the City to take action to close and clean up these types of encampments. Do better City of Oakland!
