Looking back at the recent The City Security Council Security Council AGM held at A&O Shearman, what a morning it was - partnership and collaboration! This inspiring initiative has seen the security community work together with a common goal, not as competitors but as friends and colleagues, to keep our cities and communities safe. What started as a City of London initiative by the private security sector in partnership with the City of London Police and City of London Corporation has now expanded to Manchester, Liverpool, and beyond. To underpin the importance of partnerships and collaboration, we were fortunate to have the City of London Police Commissioner Pete O'Doherty speak on such and the value of CityINTEL – then Michelle Russell, CEO and Tim Archer, Director of Licensing and Standards at the Security Industry Authority, who shared proposals of positive changes in supporting the security sector. We also heard from Paul Evans, CEO of Carlisle, with details of a new policing/private security initiative and Sophie Malone, Commercial Director of Zinc Systems and provider of the CityINTEL software platform. Chair of the London Region Scott Gough and the Manchester Regional Intelligence Lead John Unsworth provided a passionate snapshot of how they have developed/are developing their regions and all their teams have achieved - impressive stuff! Stephen Shackell BSc (hons) DTS, the CSC National Intelligence Lead, provided an impactful update along with our treasurer, Robert Wilson (who keeps a firm hand on the tiller for us). Lorraine Mansfield CSC National Operational Lead/Special Projects provided an update on the Spring 2025 live exercise – more to follow. Unfortunately, Liverpool Region Chair John Lambert was unable to attend. Although the region is a new CSC region, John and his team are making impressive inroads and growing - watch this space. Likewise Peter Harrison MBA, Manchester region chair was unable to attend and share their success with John. A special mention for Sarah Jane Cork for her impressive work with EDI while in post (truly commendable—thank you, Sarah) and Jon Felix BSc (hons) MDIP MBCI MSyl M.ISRM London Operational Lead for his tireless dedication and contribution. Also, a special thanks to Neill Catton Vijay Chand and Janice Abbs at CIS for their communication expertise and to Maxine Gridley (CSC) for organising us for the day. Thank you to Lorraine Mansfield for facilitating the wonderful venue of A&O Shearman and Danielle Hutton, Clara, and Florin of the Clermont Group Ltd. And, last but not least, the CSC members for your involvement and support of this unique partnership keeping our cities and communities safe - it wouldn’t happen without you. Let’s make 2025 another special year. David Ward MBE CSyP FSyl, the founder of CSC, stated he was blown away by the presentations, demonstrating everyone's passion for CSC and the achievements made in 2024. Graham Bassett - Chair
