Human Rescources professionals - Is the true? I’m very interested to hear some takes. If Human Resource professionals waited and didn’t “drive” background checks to get completed, many of them would linger for many weeks or longer. A few examples of driving a background to competition are below. The first step is you find out what’s missing from the background by asking the background company. Maybe the candidate is simply missing verification from a school overseas. That candidate could then send a copy of their diploma to the HR person. The HR person could then tell the background check company that they are comfortable with this and to clear the check. Another example is an employment verification from 20 years ago. Why a company would do this is beyond me though it happens all the time. You can tell the background company to only go back a certain number of years. That said, in this situation, especially in “tech”, you’ll find that some of those companies don’t exist any longer. A Human Resources professional who drives the process may tell the background company that they are comfortable with this and clear the check.
