April is Adenomyosis Awareness Month, shedding light on a little-known but serious uterine disorder. Some women who experience heavy periods, painful cramps, and/or discomfort during intercourse might have adenomyosis. A condition where uterine cells grow into the muscle wall. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, impacting daily life for those effected. While the exact cause remains unknown at this time, medical theories suggest it could be linked to surgery (after removing fibroids), developmental issues before birth, or post-childbirth inflammation. Diagnosis can be difficult, but imaging tests like ultrasounds or MRIs are shown to be helpful. Although adenomyosis can affect fertility, it's not a guarantee of infertility. Treatment options include medication, hormonal therapies, or even hysterectomy if symptoms are severe. If you believe you may have adenomyosis - please reach out to one of our fertility GPs and Specialists, or seek help from your own trusted health care provider. Development of a core domain set for ankle osteoarthritis: An international consensus study of patients and health professionals. Alanazi et al (2024) Core domains are essential areas of measurement that are agreed upon by stakeholders, to assess the impact of a specific condition in clinical research and practice. They serve as standardised outcomes that should be consistently measured and reported in clinical trials and studies. The benefits of identifying core domains are; ▪ Guiding Treatment Decisions: This can help clinicians tailor interventions based on the identified domains relevant to individual patients. ▪ Improving Research Quality: Facilitates the design of clinical trials that focus on meaningful outcomes for patients. ▪ Enhancing Communication: Provides a common language for healthcare providers and patients to discuss treatment goals and progress. Understanding Varicose Veins: Risk Factors and Treatment Options Varicose veins affect millions, causing pain, discomfort, and self-consciousness. But what increases your risk? As we age, our veins naturally weaken, making them more susceptible to varicose veins. Genetics and family history also play a significant role. Additionally, weight gain and prolonged periods of sitting or standing, common in certain careers, can put extra pressure on veins. For women, pregnancy can be a significant risk factor due to increased blood volume and hormonal changes. The good news is that effective treatments are available! Dr. Sujata recommends starting with minimally invasive options like sclerotherapy, radiofrequency treatment, and Secret RF. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary. Don't let varicose veins hold you back! Consult Dr. Sujata to discuss your personalized treatment plan. 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚!
