The end of SEO? 👀 Google's recent AI Overview update has all but flipped SEO on its head. The reality is, search behaviour is changing rapidly because of AI, and a lot of businesses and agencies missed the memo. Google is now now using AI to scrape information sources and provide answers to search users directly from their homepage, devoid of attribution. This is critical because it will keep users on Google's homepage, possibly stopping users from venturing to other webpages - often, webpages that many companies have spent a lot of money on for ranking. 📉 According to APNews, this update could reduce traffic to web pages by as much as 25%. The AI search-revolution has taught us one very powerful lesson in marketing psychology for 2024: searchers want more sophisticated, in-depth answers. If you haven't yet incorporated AI into your marketing strategy, or at least studying it, and if you are not currently strategising on how to feed your information into these evolving data layers to support ranking, there's a very real chance your website will get left behind. Earlier this week, Google announced some new AI additions to their popular search engine. One aspect that has been getting the most attention is the new AI Overview. When you search, rather than a list of links that meet your search, you will get an AI generated summary that attempts to answer your questions. In the marketing world, there was a lot of consternation over this development. Specifically, would this effectively kill SEO and lower website traffic. After all, why go to a specific website when the search engine does the work for you? So I decided to ask the Google AI what it thinks! I inputed "how will google AI impact SEO" into my Google search bar and then screen-grabbed the result, which you can see below. Whether this is a net positive or negative for marketing efforts, it is a reminder not to put all your marketing eggs in one basket, but explore and use a variety of channels to reach your target customer/client. #Google #AI #SEO
