Our Achievements: Development of new cancer treatment compounds We are excited to share a significant achievement of our N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology in collaboration with scientists from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, ITMO University, and Perm State University. Together, we have developed and synthesized unique compounds that suppress the growth of malignant cells. One of these compounds, pyrrolothienopyrimidine, has garnered special attention due to its high biological activity. Initially, it was tested in vitro on cells and then in vivo on animals (mice). The studies showed that this substance effectively reduces tumor size without negatively affecting healthy organs. In the early stages of testing, we focused on colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and melanoma. The results were impressive: in the group of mice with the highest dose of the drug, the tumor size decreased fourfold. It is important to note that the substance also effectively impacts metastases, making it promising for the treatment of late-stage cancer. We have now moved to the next phase — testing the substance on human cancer cells. Preliminary results also confirm its effectiveness. This breakthrough opens new horizons in cancer treatment, providing more effective and safer alternatives to traditional chemotherapy. Also, they assessed a promising drug in combination with an existing therapy that achieved total remission in one breast cancer model that was resistant to the standard of care, and, in other models of advanced disease, reduced cancer growth by almost 70 percent. 🦠 Novel version of CRISPR gene-editing protein engineered Researchers from Wuhan University have developed a new, compact EbCas12a variant that can be packaged into an all-in-one AAV system with its crRNA. I am glad to successfully complete a 4-month class called Translational Research in Clinical Oncology (TRACO) at National Cancer Institute (NCI) Center for Cancer Training The National Institutes of Health. The topics range from cancer imaging, cancer disparities, CART- T cells, clinical trials, small molecules, ovarian cancer, cannabinoids, NSCLC, case reports, topoisomerase, and nanotechnology. The TRACO course was  designed to provide an overview of general principles of: $biology and treatment $epidemiology $genomics $precision medicine $mechanisms of resistance $use of preclinical models $identification of novel molecular targets I reviewed my knowledge, learned new concepts, explored the future developments of translational research in clinical oncology, and connected with key opinion leaders or subject matter experts in cancer research.  #medicalinformation #medicalaffairs #oncology #clinicaloncology #clinicalresearch #clinicaldevelopment #clinicaltrials

The 14th "Milan Congress on Anticancer Innovative Therapy" Conference will involve leading international experts in the field of immuno-oncology and biologic therapy of cancer to improve the potential, opportunities and challenges of the new approaches. The increasing knowledge of the molecular mechanisms responsible for neoplastic progression, the characterization of tumor microenvironment, and the immunological/angiogenetic mechanisms regulating the tumor-host interaction, allowed us to identify and apply more effective anti-cancer biogical and immunological treatments. To date, the immuno-biotherapy is a continuously evolving treatment modality and it is currently integrated into the treatment algorythms of several different tumor types. This conference explores topics that will appeal to clinicians, as well as, basic, translational, and clinical scientists ranging from academics to industry. As in the past, the meeting will provide a highly interactive forum in which leading experts will discuss clinical and pre-clinical data, providing the audience with a broad overview of the most recent achievements in cancer biologic and immunologic therapy, for example in the neoadjuvant setting of melanoma patients.
