We live in an "on demand" society - we order online, and the items we placed in our virtual cart are the items we see on a counter in 10 minutes, or on our doorstep tomorrow. When we make the physical effort to walk into a retail store, our expectations are equally high. Mayflex, a Sonepar Company, announced earlier this month the automation of its Central Distribution Center in Birmingham, with the addition of the Autostore system from Swisslog. 👏 Sam Baldwin, Mayflex Operations & Services Director commented, “With our investment in Autostore and the introduction of the 14 Maybot robots, we can enhance our service levels further. So, Exotec v AutoStore™ ?? Earlier this month, Exotec announced Bastian Solutions as one of Exotec's North American system integrators. (interestingly, we have not seen any news from Bastian or parent Toyota Material Handling re this) Bastian Solutions was one of the very first AutoStore integrators in North America and expanded this relationship to become a global integrator just a few years ago. Now, a few people may say AutoStore and Exotec are miles apart whereas others may say they overlap significantly on "application sweetspot". In STIQ Ltd (Styleintelligence)'s view there are few other "mature" solutions that compete with both AutoStore and Exotec... apart from possibly AMR Shuttles.
