Our research at The Leverage Network Inc. (TLN), involving over 5,000 employees across the top 40 healthcare organizations, revealed a startling fact: Black executives remain in mid-management, director, and VP roles 3x longer than their white counterparts. To address this, TLN explored the unique challenges faced by Black executives and devised a solution aligned with our mission. In 2021, we launched Beyond Boundaries, modeled after the Healthcare Board Initiative (HcBI). This executive leadership development program prepares Black executives for C-Suite roles and overcomes the “hiding in plain sight” phenomenon. Beyond Boundaries offers lessons in relationship management, strategic thinking, and decision-making, empowering leaders to be seen, heard, curious, and authentic. On September 18-19, TLN will kick off its 4th Beyond Boundaries Cohort for senior executives who are 1 to 2 levels below enterprise C-Suite roles or identified by their organizations as ‘ready now’ candidates for top positions.
