During our recent RAC Town Halls, we unveiled some key findings from a recent survey of nearly 400 architects, engineers and contractors. As the need for more resilient structures becomes more and more apparent, concrete masonry ranks high for its structural capability and all-around safety. This group’s desire to understand other inherent benefits of CMU like aesthetics and design flexibility, energy efficiency and low embodied carbon has emerged as a golden opportunity for concrete masonry!

If you have worked in the world of historic restoration and preservation or have been involved in any capacity, it likely has been apparent that the skillset and knowledge required to execute such projects is significantly different and much more extensive than that of typical construction. The building of Dollar Generals, repairs to new buildings, and block and brick work that the average mason is trained in, falls under an entirely different umbrella of skillsets. Unfortunately, in many cases over the years (more often than not) we have seen the average mason apply their skillset to historic projects and fall infinitely short. Most of the time doing harm, if not irreparable damage. This occurs all too often when those with the limited knowledge of new construction and repairs try their hand at historic restoration and preservation. At Bramwell-McKay, we are led by a passion for the preservation and revitalization of our historic buildings. And after spending nearly half a century in specialized restoration work, we can say we have mastered the nearly lost craft. #construction #masonry #masonrycontractors #historicmasonry #historicbuilding #historicbuildings #historicpreservation #historicpreservationists #historicrestoration #masonryrestoration #engineering #commercialbuilder #architect #architects #masonryconsultants #structuralengineering #masonryrestoration #restoration #building

🌹 Lest we forget 🌹 Did you know that Modular Construction was born in the 19th Century? Henry Manning created the concept, but it truly took off during and after World War II, when there was an increased need for quick and affordable housing for returning soldiers and their families. The use of prefabricated components made it possible to manufacture homes much faster than traditional methods. In the 60’s & 70’s, modular construction gained significant popularity in the United States, especially for schools and military facilities. Fast forward to today, this innovative approach is transforming residential, hospitality and commercial buildings worldwide. With advancements in technology and design, modular construction continues to rise, in scale and popularity. As we continue to push the boundaries of MMC and modular construction to redefine modern living that will shape the future of architecture and urban developments, it is important to reflect on how far offsite and MMC has developed and what the future could hold. #modularconstruction #modularhistory #Architecture #buildingsofthefuture #MMC #offsiteconstruction #offsite #lestweforget #remembranceday

From the first brainstorm of a blueprint to the final unveiling of a completed project, roofing plays a pivotal role in architectural success. That reminder comes from Ken Krawcheck Jr., writing on behalf of East Lake Metals about Armored Coast, a roofing solution that architects can specify with confidence, trust for performance, and love for its design versatility. https://lnkd.in/eHt-Ejvc
