🔹 2nd Consortium Meeting of the EFFECTIVE project 🔹 This week, we participated in the second meeting of the EFFECTIVE consortium, held in Lárnaka (Cyprus) at the CMMI facilities. During the session, we shared the latest project developments and continued exploring new synergies among the partners. 🌍🤝 Key highlights of the meeting: 🌱 Collaborative work with CSIC to develop techniques for the repopulation of emblematic species in the LBUs, as part of Pilot 1, led by Ocean Ecostructures. 🌿 The design of a method to implement the Business in Nature Approach and assess natural capital, in collaboration with One Ocean Foundation, CSIC, ECOACSA, Reserva de Biodiversidad, and IOW (SEASTAINABLE VENTURES). We are proud to be part of this innovative project that bridges science, sustainability, and solutions for the future of our ecosystems. 🌊✨ #EFFECTIVE #OceanEcostructures #Sustainability #Innovation #NaturalCapital #Collaboration Funded by the European Union. 🌍 As we wrap up another busy week, there's a lot going on behind the scenes at MEDSEAPLAN! 🌍 ☀️We are planning an exciting workshop in Cyprus in March, aiming to harness our collective expertise to propel sustainable #MarineSpatialPlanning for the #BlueEconomy forward across the #Mediterranean ☀️ 🌟📅We'll get together to deliver a comparative analysis of MSP in Mediterranean countries as it pertains to the #SustainableBlueEconomy. We'll focus on reviewing data types and sources, enhancing stakeholder engagement through participatory tools like geoportals, and assessing the adequacy of data for addressing the region's unique challenges. 🔍 Our goal is to evaluate whether current data supports effective scenario planning and meets the needs of data-poor sectors throughout the Mediterranean. 🛠️ Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push forward. Have a great weekend and here’s to more progress ahead! 🌊 #BlueEconomyEU #MaritimeSpatialPlanning #BlueEconomy #Mediterranean Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership World Ocean Council Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) Cerema Cohabys Bandırma Onyedi Eylül Üniversitesi Bursa Teknik Üniversitesi Elkon Elektrik San. ve Tic. Interesting morning side event at the UN Ocean Decade conference. Technology and innovation showcase - a side event organised by the Schmidt Ocean Institute and supported by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST). The event consisted of a series of pitches and reverse pitches against a number of the ocean decade challenges by innovators. The reverse pitches talked about the need for technology innovation. Each pitch was limited to 3 minutes they were followed by a panel discussion The innovation pitches ranged from Fugro communicating how it is decarbonising its oceanic research shipping vessels, to the Ocean Data Network showcasing how it is leveraging fishing vessels for depth measurements to expand the global ocean observing network. The reverse pitches included Wildaid Marine Programme advocating for tech innovations in Marine Protected Area (MPA) enforcement, emphasising the need for accessibility, scalability, and practicality; to Ocean Visions seeking ocean based solutions to climate change and helping them with the four R's [Repair, Remove, Reduce, Reach] The panel discussion (including Ralph Rayner - IMarEST Fellow) emphasised the importance of innovation, funding, and data utilisation in addressing ocean challenges. Collaboration across sectors was highlighted as crucial for accelerating progress towards a sustainable blue economy - in particular the need to communicate to non- scientific communities, and the need to move more rapidly was also emphasised. #IMarEST #OceanDecade #Technology #Innovation 🌊🌏

To achieve its objectives, TRANSEATION relies on the specialized work of the 16 partners that make up the consortium. Let's get to know them better! 😉 ➡ SINTEF Ocean conducts research and innovation related to ocean space. Researchers from SINTEF work on projects with both a national and international focus and for clients from the public and private sectors. Core topics for SINTEF Ocean include marine governance and stakeholder engagement, ecological restoration, biomonitoring, sustainability assessments, and ocean modelling. In #TRANSEATION project, SO leads the stakeholder engagement process and works to integrate knowledge from CLIMAREST project (Lighthouse for the Arctic and Atlantic Basin), establishing synergies with the toolbox for marine restoration. 🔎 Find out more about TRANSEATION in the project website! 🔗 lnkd.in/dVPEfExc #MarineConservation #MarineEcosystems #NaturebasedSolutions #Sustainability #BlueEconomy #MarineSustainability #Innovation #TRANSEATIONproject Centro Tecnológico Naval y del Mar - CTN, AZTI, SPOTTERON, Ocean Ecostructures, CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici, GAIKER Technology Centre, Leibniz-Institut für Ostseeforschung Warnemünde, Itsaskorda S.L., EcoOcean, DTU Aqua, SAITEC, University of Haifa, Green Living Projects, #SINTEF, Seacure - Geocorail

🌟 Wrapping Up 2024 with Gratitude and Milestones! 🌟 As the year comes to a close, I want to highlight a publication I was privileged to contribute to: "Modelling the Spatial Distribution of West Nile Virus in New Mexico: A Five-Year Study Employing Poisson, Geometric, Quartile Normalization, and Mean Squared Error Evaluation." This work was showcased at two incredible platforms this year: ✅ 6th Euro-Mediterranean Conference for Environmental Integration (EMCEI) – 15–18 May 2024, Marrakesh, Morocco. ✅ Geo-Science and Geospatial Technologies (GGT): Ecosystem Restoration and Natural Resources Management – Organized by COEUS Institute GmbH & IEREK (Publishing Partners) on 25–26 February 2024. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to these projects and collaborate with the brilliant minds of Onyedikachi Joshua Okeke, Adedoyin Ajeyomi, and all others mentioned in these publications in the fields of environmental sciences and geospatial technologies. Looking forward to new challenges, collaborations, and breakthroughs in 2025! #Research #GeospatialTechnologies #EnvironmentalScience #Publications #WestNileVirus
