Introducing Ocean Seeker from Ocean Geophysics - AI Object Identification Software. Accurately identifying objects (boulders in the video above), especially object locations and sizes, from side-scan sonar data supports operational decisions with time and cost implications. Traditional methods involved the manual location of boulders, a tedious and error-prone process which can produce variable results. Ocean Geophysics has spent the last year developing an in-house tool which can be used to train a machine-learning algorithm to detect objects automatically and efficiently. Our software presents an innovative solution, leveraging the power of the You Only Look Once Version 5 (YOLO V5) machine learning algorithm. Integrating this cutting-edge technology with an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), our program dramatically simplifies and expedites the process of object identification in side scan sonar data and eliminates variability between datasets. Moreover, seamless integration with industry-standard software ensures compatibility and enhances workflow efficiency, further solidifying Ocean Seeker as a game-changer in object detection. KEY FEATURES: Powered by YOLO V5:  Built upon the robust YOLO algorithm, version 5, our program automates the detection of objects in side scan imaging data. Rapid Identification:  The software can quickly process entire survey areas, taking around one second per side-scan line to detect and map all objects. Integration with Industry Software:  Objects can be seamlessly loaded from industry-standard software, enhancing compatibility and workflow efficiency for users. Duplicate Removal: The software intelligently associates objects picked on different lines, automatically removing duplicates. User-Friendly Graphical Interface: Our software boasts an intuitive GUI, designed to accommodate users with varying technical expertise. Non-specialists can both train the model and detect objects in unseen data.
