In my soon to be 7th anniversary at Luberef. A dear colleague of mine asked me for few guidelines. The request was shocking coz I used to be the one asking my seniors this -And still am-. Soon, we are gradually becoming seniors and must live up to this obligation I believe. In this case, here are few things from my years of service: 1- Be present (meetings, forums, company engagement events…etc.) You could be the smartest person in any room, but if no one knows you exist the job will always go to the next familiar person. 2- know the people, the system and the functions. Maybe you won’t know everything. But you should diffently know where the information can be found. 3- Here is a beautiful one. I am quoting a Sr. VP within Aramco: “Perfectly do what you were hired for the first 5 years. Based on how you do it different doors will open.” 4- At a minimum you will deal with people of different age groups, social and educational backgrounds. Each have their priorities, interests and burdens. Stay humble and kind. 5- When you join a place. Trust the knowledge and the fresh eye you possess. Your position is unique to the environment for a period of time. Make the best of it. #lessonslearned #careerdeveoplment #personalgrowth

Exciting opportunities in Norwegian Space industry

Today marks the end of my 27-year journey with Subsea Components, Aker Solutions, now OneSubsea. I’ve had the privilege of working with some amazing people and made some lifelong friends. I have to say that leaving filled me with dread - what the hell am I going to do next, this is all I know, what if I can’t find a new job, how do we pay the mortgage, I’ll have to sell my motorbike! Ok, so that last one was never going to happen but still, I was seriously concerned about the future. The job searching wasn’t actually as scary as I had expected and it wasn’t long before I found some good matches for a Quality Engineer role and realised that many of my skills were transferable. I was still nervous about pressing the dreaded ‘apply now’ button, but I had to move forwards. The interview process was daunting, having been in the same place for so long, but I found lots of helpful advice online. One thing I was determined about was that I needed to be myself, as I was sure that it was the best way to ensure a good fit with potential employers. Special thanks to Ryan West at Maclean HR for his support and for giving me the confidence boost that I needed to present the best version of myself in the interview and to secure a new position (details to follow). So here I am moving on from a company that I’ve worked with for 27 years and stepping out into the world of new employment with a positive outlook, a smile on my face and a determination to continue to grow. I realise that this is a long post but….. if you’ve made it this far….. my overall message is one of positivity. If you ever find yourself in a similar position, I just want to encourage you to keep positive, trust in yourself, your skills and experience and, maybe, just maybe, you will find a new and better way forward.

"Do Your Best Work—People Will Remember You" My first company, Mudajaya Corporation Berhad, was where I began as an intern. After leaving Sunway Construction Berhad, I received an unexpected call from a former colleague, Mobby Joseph Ambau, who was now a safety officer at Cypark Sdn. Bhd. He said, “Bro, my boss asked me to find a capable Malay engineer. I couldn’t think of anyone else but you.” Later, I moved to Minconsult Sdn. Bhd., thanks to a recommendation from Pn. Ir. Zarina Mohamad Ali, who had been a consultant during my time at Cypark. From Minconsult, I joined MRCB Engineering Sdn. Bhd. when my contract was nearing its end. My boss, Mr. Andy Lau, reached out to offer me a role. After MRCB, I moved to Borneo Geotechnic Sdn. Bhd., a bored pile specialist subcontractor I had worked with at MRCB. The Executive Director invited me to join when I was planning to return to KL. When I joined TH Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (a subsidiary of Lembaga Tabung Haji), my boss, Tengku Kamarolhisham, told me, “Mizi, do you know why I hired you? Because you and I share something in common—we’ve worked in Chinese companies for a long time.” Looking back, many of my career moves were based on recommendations from former colleagues. My first boss, Sharon Ruba at Mudajaya Corporation Berhad, once gave me advice that still resonates today: “Hamizi, if a boss doesn’t like you, even after you leave, they’ll still say things about you. Don’t bother with that. Just do your best. The people around you—your subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients—will notice. When opportunities arise, they’ll come to you.”

what MY FIRST placement taught me ABOUT THE OFFSHORE WORLD. I recently had the pleasure of placing an amazing Rov Pilot onto another project 2.5 years after we first started working together. When I think back to what I knew then vs now the difference is day and night. If I had to summarise my first experience of placing this person that I now call a friend, I would point out how much of an educator they are and what they taught me leading up to the present day. We have had periods of time where situations have meant that our agendas change for a while but its always short lived. I am sure there will be people reading this who's first experience of recruiting/being recruited wasn't smooth sailing but how we process these experiences is important in how you move forward. Over the last 2.5 years this person helped me learn about different ROV'S, Scope of works and helped me to understand the mentality of people that have to spend long periods of time away from their family. When you love your job this is information that you are happy to take in. As much as we are the ones doing the recruiting, the best experiences come from two like minded people working together on the same goal. What was your first experience of recruiting/being recruited like,? How many friends have you made along way..?

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐈 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐚𝐭 Saipem. It was a decision I thought long and hard about, but I strongly believe it’s the right one. I don’t have another job lined up. I had other offers, some even financially attractive, but none truly reflected my desire for challenge and entrepreneurship. I’ve decided to dedicate myself fully to a personal project, and to do so, I’ll need to give it my heart and soul. I have some ground to make up, and I will need to start studying, building, failing, learning, trying again, possibly failing once more, and then getting back up to try again. I need to face my fears and prove to myself alone that I can do this. I know I have a 5% chance of success, but in my eyes, starting to be defeated by not trying at all is a losing mindset. With this choice, I may disappoint many people—but not my family. I’ve long since stopped listening to those who want to drag you down rather than lift you. The difference between "it’s impossible" and "it’s difficult" is subtle, but it’s significant. We grow up believing we must prove ourselves to the world, competing endlessly. I’m running my race against myself. The world around me inspires me, but I define my standards. I don’t need external validation or applause. I like to compare this new adventure to the first leg of an Ironman race, something I love to participate in. It’s a 3.8 km swim. You’ve done it before, but each time, you think you won’t make it. The voiceover hypes you up, the cheering crowd lifts your spirits, you run, and you dive in. The water is freezing; you can’t catch your breath. The wetsuit restricts your strokes. Other competitors kick and hit you, and you’re scared you’ll drown. You don’t think about the bike leg (180 km) or the run (42.2 km); you focus solely on survival. And it’s there, far from the shore, in the open sea with towering waves, that your mind reaches a sense of peace that makes you feel alive. I still haven’t found a definitive meaning to this life, but I’m sure of one thing: I don’t want to live a life full of regrets. During my intership in Iraqi Drilling Company I used to see all the crew in the early morning gethering every day before they starting to work. I actually was wondering about the reason that whay would they not work directly  without this assembly? What they exactly talking about in this assembly? Until I have joined them and it was named like (Pre-job meeting) or (toolbox meeting) And this term used before the crew operating in the drilling rig, they're making a meeting by the supervisor and they're  discussing everything related to the well Such as: 1.If the well become under- control. 2.The tasks of every member of the drilling crew. 3.Risk assessment. 4.Safety procedure. 5.Emergency preparedness. 6.Communication protocols. To be honest this gethering every single day in early morning was extremely important to minimizes accidents and incidents and allows the crew members to raise concerns or ask questions before starting beside Encourages a culture of safety and accountability.
