💙 Today is a BIG day. We are officially LIVE with our Wavemakers Digital platform, enabling access to our Wavemakers programme to anyone around the world with an internet connection and a motivation to dive into Ocean action. Just like our on-the-ground workshops, Wavemakers workshops are non-linear (yes, YOU are in control of where you start and what you learn first) and support 16-25 year olds to bring sustainability into any career route whilst accelerating action on issues they care about. I'm so excited to see where and how the Wavemakers programme has grown - from those hours of consultation with young people in 2020 to shape the content, to the innovative and thoughtful delivery from Dr Gemma Connell over the last year, clarifying our direction. 🤔 How do we make taking action on environmental issues something that ALL young people feel like they can and want to participate in? How do we combat eco-anxiety and flip the narrative to eco-empowerment? How do we ensure that the supporting environments for young people (the institutions, the corporates, the elders, the governments, the communities, etc) are invested and committed to the same? These are the questions that started it and our e-learning platform gives us a home to continue answering them. 🙌 Big shout out to Storm Birch, who has made this come alive in a way I never thought possible, Brad Davidson who has always championed the vision when it was merely a dream, Devyn who has been my operations wizard & Nadia and Richard, who steered the ship to the funding needed to realise it. 🚀 We are over the moon! 🚀 Never in my wildest dreams did I think our work would be recognized by a jury that includes innovators from NASA, the godfathers of innovation themselves. But here we are! 🎉 A project I worked on in collaboration with Merkle Switzerland AG was awarded at the w3 Awards in the category of Emerging Tech: Creative Innovation – Metaverse or World-building Design. 🎉 The project, "Devenir – The Purest Form of Interaction," was a bold step into the future of human-technology interaction, and I’m so proud of what we achieved. The recognition from the w3 Awards jury, known for celebrating the best in tech and creativity, makes it even more special. This was a collaboration during my time at Dentsu, but it reflects the level of innovation I aim to bring to every project I’m part of. Now, as I focus on my own journey, this win is a reminder of the power of great partnerships and daring ideas. There’s so much more to come—stay tuned! Do you think a door flying off mid-flight impacts public opinion online for a brand? We wondered the same thing so students in our Consumer Behavior class measured positive, neutral and negative sentiment on social media and review sites for their semester-long project. Guess what? It didn't impact it as much as you would think. And, based on the data the brand has pretty much recovered from the incident. We also learned that a major coffee brand can lose revenue due to political comments but retain positive public opinion online and that matching the celebrity spokesperson with a brand's mission/vision/values is how you grow both revenue and positive consumer sentiment. What a fun semester with these students who matched my energy in our night class and cleaned up nicely to present their findings. Such an insightful time at the Creatorverse sessions hosted by the incredible Amplify team at SXSW Sydney yesterday. Not gonna lie, I can sometimes get a little sleepy in the audience at some of these things 💤 ...but not yesterday, so much energy and no chance to think that you are ever ahead of the game and can rest easy, thank god I'm not someone who likes cruise control. There is always something to learn, always another 'aha' moment and people that surprise & delight you! Yes, it's my birthday! Each year, I see it as a unique opportunity to dive deeper into life, exploring the unseen, and coming out stronger on the other side. As I navigate through the cave’s darkness, surrounded by fluttering wings of bats, I pause to commemorate this awe-inspiring moment, reflecting on my amazing years around the sun. At the ripe age of 43, I’m more excited than ever to plunge headfirst into the unseen, embrace the mystery, and continue to evolve. It's a wild journey, full of triumphs and trials, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's to embrace the unknown, to move through fear and uncertainty with gratitude and resilience. As I paddle through the dark waters, I am also reminded of my journey with Digital Delane, my digital marketing agency. Like the cave, it was unknown territory when I first started. But through determination and courage, I've steered it into the light and I'm immensely proud of how far we have come. My birthday wish is to continue this journey of discovery and growth, both personally and professionally. I look forward to what my this year brings as I strive to scale new heights with Digital Delane. Here's to another year of adventure, exploration, and growth!
