Embracing the Cape: A Tale of Work-Life Balance Relocating to Cape Town for work was a long-cherished dream finally realized. This vibrant city, which I had only ever experienced in brief holiday stints, has always held a special allure for me. To now live and work here is nothing short of a personal triumph. Cape Town’s breathtaking landscapes and dynamic atmosphere make every day feel like an endless vacation. Outside of work, I am a perpetual tourist, constantly enchanted by the city's charm and beauty. Yet, my heart remains deeply tied to Johannesburg, a city I love for its vibrant economic opportunities and its inclusive spirit. In Joburg, wealth and prosperity transcend racial and neighborhood boundaries, creating a diverse and thriving community. Cape Town, however, offers a unique promise: an unparalleled work-life balance. Here, the convergence of professional fulfillment and personal rejuvenation is not just a possibility but a reality. For anyone seeking to harmonize their career ambitions with a quality lifestyle, Cape Town is undoubtedly the place to be.

Three years ago today, I boarded a plane to Zanzibar alone, escaping the chaos of COVID and a not-so-successful year in my personal life. 🗺️ Travel? Alone? To Africa? Amidst a pandemic? Isn't that irresponsible? These were the main comments when I mentioned my plans to family and friends. Therefore, I decided to go on my journey quietly. Little did I know then that a two-week vacation turns into five months of remote work and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞. I returned from Zanzibar with a new perspective and job at Scoro as a recruiter. In the following years, I've been on quite a journey, from Mexico, Colombia, and Vietnam to various European places. The latest adventure took me to Albania for three weeks (by the way - I highly recommend it!). 𝐈𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞? 💻🌴 Certainly not! It requires a lot of planning, discipline, adaptation, working at random times, proving oneself, stepping out of the comfort zone, overcoming the fear of missing out, and dealing with emotions alone. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭. Trust by my team, manager, colleagues, and the company. Also, trust in myself that I can meet expectations. It’s something I truly value and motivates me daily in my work. 🫶 This journey has taught me the power of resilience and embracing the unknown. Here's to more adventures and meaningful connections in the years to come! ✨ #remotework #flexibility #appreciationpost

🌏 Canada to New Zealand: Embracing Cultural Nuances I'm quickly coming up on my one year anniversary of arriving in New Zealand. As I reflect on my journey from Canada to New Zealand, the cultural transitions have been both fascinating and enriching. 🇨🇦✈️🇳🇿 In the realm of work culture, I've noticed some interesting nuances. While Canada and New Zealand share Commonwealth roots, the Kiwi work atmosphere carries a unique charm. 🍁🤝🥝 One striking difference is the laid-back and informal nature of the workplace in Aotearoa. There's a refreshing lack of urgency, which significantly reduces stress. On the flip side, it contributes to longer timelines for deliverables. 🚀➡️🕰️ What truly stands out is the emphasis on work-life balance. New Zealand boasts more public holidays and vacation days, fostering an environment that prioritizes well-being. 🏖️🌺 This has been my personal experience navigating the Kiwi professional landscape. 🌐✨ Have you undergone a similar cross-cultural transition? I'd love to hear your insights! 🌍🗣️ #WorkCulture #CrossCulturalExperience #NewBeginnings #ProfessionalJourney #CanadaToNZ #CulturalTransition #newzealandlife #newzealandjobs #newzealandimmigration #canadacareers #newjob

*** Public Holidays *** Remote Work *** Today is a public holiday in Zanzibar. Happy Mawlid to all my Islamic brothers and sisters celebrating yesterday, or today. When you work remote, travel, and have clients in multiple countries then public holidays really are a thing! I guess I get 20-25 days a year where either a country I am in, or a client country is on a public holiday. This is both awesome and extremely frustrating all at the same time. I rarely take these days off fully, except for the “big ones”. If I did it’s well over 10% of my working days. But a high proportion of these days I work a lighter load. One of the advantages of a single hub/office/base country for staff is you do not have this impact. But how can I complain, this picture was taken on my morning walk as I will go to the office later today. I am a lucky man, and I know it. #remotework #publicholidays #mawlid #celebrate #zanzibar
