Thank you to everyone who contributed to our collection bins for the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County Baby Shower! Oishei Children's Hospital is proud to have once again supported and sponsored this important community-driven collection FOR the moms in our region. Dori Marshall, Chief Medical Officer at OCH, was invited to speak at the United Way Day of Caring Kick-Off and the Baby Shower Packing Launch. Dr. Marshall spoke a few words on the phenomenal impact that these donated items will have for the at-risk mothers in the Western New York area. Sponsoring this event was a natural extension of OCH's commitment to maternal and pediatric health care, ensuring that every family receives the support they need during this pivotal time, regardless of their circumstances. Thank you to our staff, visitors and everyone that contributed towards the United Way's Community Baby Shower! #UWBECDayofCaring

So what is a HAS Foundation Care Pack? Our HAS Foundation Care Pack is just one way we show our support and understanding for families navigating the incredibly challenging journey of paediatric palliative care at the Women's and Children's Hospital. Each Care Pack is packed with items designed to alleviate some of the everyday burdens faced by these families during hospital stays. Inside, you’ll find a compendium for organising medical documents, an easy meal solution for those times when preparing food seems like an impossible task, a water bottle and travel mug for long hospital stays, along with vouchers for groceries, meals and family activities and some toys, books, games...there's something for the whole family. The Care Packs started after our own experience navigating palliative care with Hunter. We understand first hand the needs of families during this time — from managing the care of other children and trying to maintain some form of normality at home, to keeping track of the endless stream of medical information, all while coping with the emotional toll it takes on your own well-being. We know we cannot change or cure the path ahead for each family, but our mission is to ease their journey, even if just a little, by providing practical support with our Care Packs. This initiative is one way we aim to make the path through paediatric palliative care a bit more gentle. For those who wish to support this mission, you can contribute by donating a care pack to a family in need through our website. 💙 https://lnkd.in/getGibur #carepacks #donate #family #support #care #kids #love #paediatricpalliativecare #adelaide #hasfoundation

Did you know that March of Dimes pioneered what we know today as grassroots fundraising? 🪙 They’ve been empowering people everywhere to play a role in advancing healthcare since they led the eradication of polio in the 30s and 40s with a call for extra dimes from radio listeners across the country 📻 More than 80 years later, they are still getting thousands of people involved in the mission - now through their March for Babies events around the country for healthier moms and babies 👩🏼🍼 Their latest step to increase accessibility of donating is adding DAFpay to all of their peer to peer fundraising forms for the event ✅ In addition to finding brand new donors that prefer giving with their DAF, they’re also regularly seeing existing donors that historically gave a $100 now making gifts over $2,000 through DAFpay 🥳 As Karyn DeMartini, MBA, VP of Major, Principal & Planned Giving, says “It’s just a fact that donors are increasingly electing to use DAFs—why would we not make that as easy as possible to use a DAF to support us?” 💡 I loved getting to learn more of Karyn’s personal connection to the mission, the exciting results with DAFpay and March of Dimes latest initiatives for healthier moms and babies everywhere 🤗 Writing our cause of the month spotlight articles is a highlight for me every month 💜 If there’s an organization you think we should spotlight in the future that’s innovating with their impact and their DAF fundraising, please let me know! 🙌🏼 #nonprofit #fundraising #philanthropy

🚑 Meet Our Future Doctor 🚑 By sharing the story of this remarkable grant candidate, we aim to boost awareness and drive donations to grow our KCMS Community Foundation grant, allowing us to support more deserving medical students. This candidate's awakening to healthcare disparities came during a road trip through rural America, where he witnessed firsthand the absence of medical facilities. This experience, coupled with volunteering in underfunded schools and shelters, revealed the systemic barriers faced by marginalized populations. He is committed to treating patients as whole persons, addressing not just physical ailments but also the socioeconomic and cultural factors that impact health. 🌟 Quote: "Witnessing the lack of medical resources in rural communities sparked my interest in medicine, focusing on the whole patient, including socioeconomic and cultural aspects." 💖 Support His Journey: Your donation can empower medical students like this one to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care to underserved communities, helping to bridge the gap in healthcare access and quality. 👉 Donate Today and Empower Future Physicians! https://lnkd.in/gM-adavP #HealthcareForAll #FutureDoctor #SupportDiversityInMedicine #KingCountyMedicalSociety #KCMedSoc #OsteopathicMedicine #RuralHealthcare #HolisticCare #HealthEquity #EmpowerHealth

February 14th isn’t just Valentine’s Day - it’s also National Organ Donor Day! As someone who lives with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), this cause is close to my heart. What better way to show your love this Valentine’s Day than by appreciating those who give the gift of life? The #LivingDonorProtectionAct will increase organ donations by protecting the health and rights of all living donors. What does the #LDPA do? (1) Prohibits insurance from denying coverage based on status as a living organ donor. (2) Covers living organ donation under Family and Medical Leave. (3) Directs HHS to update education materials on living organ donation to align with these changes. Please encourage your Members of Congress to support the Living Donor Protection Act (H.R. 2923 / S. 1384). #EndPKD / PKD Foundation / National Kidney Foundation / CURA Strategies
