The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services finalized a 3.4% reimbursement cut to physical and occupational therapy providers for 2024. This cut has now gone into effect – exacerbating existing challenges for physical therapy providers, making it more difficult for patients to access the care they need and undervaluing the services our therapists provide to the Medicare population. While Congress has taken steps to protect therapy services with new legislation, we need lawmakers to act with urgency to stop these cuts as part of an upcoming legislative package. Urge your lawmakers to include the Preserving Seniors’ Access to Physicians Act of 2023 (H.R.6683) in the January 19th legislative package: https://lnkd.in/gzFnyv3. #Medicare #ConfluentHealth #PhysicalTherapy #OccupationalTherapy #Healthcare Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality and Innovation

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized a cut of -3.4% to physical and occupational therapy providers for 2024, which went into effect on January 1. These unfair cuts to therapy providers will exacerbate existing challenges and ultimately make it more difficult for patients to access the care they need. CMS chose to finalize these cuts despite warnings and opposition from Medicare stakeholders across the care continuum. It is critical that Congress stops these Medicare cuts as soon as possible. https://lnkd.in/gZNRnkAg

Meet Maddie! In September 2023, Maddie was in a car accident and sustained a spinal cord injury that left her with no feeling or movement from the waist down. After inpatient rehab at Sheltering Arms Institute, she transitioned to our intensive outpatient therapy program to continue her progress. With the dedicated support of her physical and occupational therapists, Maddie focused on regaining her strength and mobility with the goal of returning to her passion: caring for her animals. Upon completing therapy, Maddie was referred to the PowerEx program at Sheltering Arms to help her transition to independent exercise. Watch Maddie’s story to see how far she has come after months of hard work. We are so proud of everything you have accomplished, Maddie! Did you know that an estimated 30 million elderly Americans fall every year, resulting in $50 billion in annual costs associated with these falls? It's time to take action! The epidemic of senior falls is accelerating, but we have the power to prevent them. Physical and occupational therapists play a crucial role in fall prevention, and bipartisan legislation has been introduced to recognize their immense value. The SAFE Act (H.R. 7618), spearheaded by Representatives Carol Miller (R-WV) and Melanie Stansbury (D-NM), aims to make no-cost fall risk assessments from physical or occupational therapists a part of Medicare beneficiaries' wellness benefits. This legislation is not just about improving access to preventative care; it's about saving lives and reducing dangerous falls among our seniors. But we can't do it alone. We need YOUR help to get this legislation passed! Take action today by sending an email to urge your Member of Congress to support the SAFE Act. Together, we can make a difference and protect our seniors from preventable falls. #SAFEAct #aptqi #seniorcare #fallsprevention #falls #medicare #physicaltherapy #occupationaltherapy #healthcareadvocacy #bipartisan

📢 CALLING ALL PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS! 📢 Reps. Don Davis and Lloyd Smucker just introduced the REDUCE Act. If passed, the bipartisan bill would reduce the unnecessary administrative burden on rehab therapy practices by allowing the plan of care to be deemed certified as long as it is submitted to the physician within 30 days. Read more about the REDUCE Act and show your support by submitting the Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality and Innovation's easy-to-use letter template to your members of Congress here: https://webpt.co/2Wu1nvO It takes less than one minute to use your voice to advocate for rehab therapy 👏 #ATPQI #REDUCEAct #PTAdvocacy #PTs #OTs

Why choose #OccupationalTherapy as YOUR profession? Join #OccupationalTherapist Winnie as she reflects on her journey: "My experience as a hand therapy clinical specialist allowed me to work with a very special case at NYU Langone Medical Center. NYU is where the world's first bilateral hand and face transplant was completed. I was one of 4 certified hand therapists to treat this patient 3 hours per day for 6 weeks. It was a rewarding and humbling experience to be part of this patient's surgical and rehab journey." Learn more about occupational therapy: https://ow.ly/YM5F50RaPmj #OccupationalTherapy #WhyChooseOT
