Happy Physical Therapy Month! This month, we celebrate the incredible work of physical therapists and their vital role in enhancing the quality of life for older adults. At Kendal at Home, we’re proud to spotlight Care Coordinator, Heather Gansel, who is also a Physical Therapy Assistant! Thank you, Heather, for your dedication and compassion in supporting members. Here are three key ways physical therapists help older adults: 1. Fall Prevention: Physical therapists assess balance and mobility, providing tailored exercises to improve strength and coordination, significantly reducing the risk of falls 2. Pain Management: They develop individualized plans to manage chronic pain, enhancing comfort and functionality through targeted exercises and therapies 3. Enhancing Mobility: Physical therapists help older adults regain independence by improving their ability to move, whether it's through rehabilitation after surgery or addressing age-related mobility issues. We recognize and appreciate the hard work of all physical therapists who make a difference every day! #KendalatHome #ContinuingCareatHome #AginginPlace

**🎉 Celebrating Physical Therapist Month! 🎉** Physical therapists dedicate themselves to helping individuals reclaim their lives. Throughout our lives, we strive for growth and independence. In the whirlwind of daily activities, it’s easy to underestimate the importance of the small actions we take until an unforeseen event—such as an accident, a medical condition, or even something as common as tripping over a rug—disrupts our routine. From family members to friends and coworkers, the rehabilitation needed to regain a person's activities of daily living (ADLs) is imperative. Patients may have many days when they find it challenging to attend therapy due to pain, frustration, or sheer exhaustion. Despite these hurdles, your physical therapist understands and remains calm, patient, and compassionate, gently motivating patients to persist with therapy, even during the toughest moments. By raising awareness about these medical heroes and the essential support they offer, we can inspire patients to stay committed throughout their treatment journeys, ultimately helping them regain their strength and independence. **💪 Thank you to all the physical therapists for your dedication and hard work!** #PhysicalTherapy #HealthcareHeroes #Rehabilitation #PatientCare #YogiRehab #HomeTherapy #OutpatientTherapy #RehabAtHome

Do you find your physical therapy clinic not as packed as you'd like? It happens, but don't freak out. Let's talk about what you can do to fix it. First up, take a close look at your team. Not everyone's schedule is bursting at the seams. You've probably got some therapists who are swamped and a few who are struggling to fill their slots. Do some detective work. Are there enough patients going around? If yes, then maybe the issue lies with one or two PTs not getting enough bookings. This doesn't mean you should show them the door. Instead, it's your cue to step in and help out. Sit down with them, figure out the problem, and think about how you can support them better. It could be they need more training or just a bit of a confidence boost. Why not give every therapist the chance to shine? You'll see your clinic buzzing with activity in no time.

I met with a frustrated Physical Therapist this week for coffee. She told me she at their clinic they see each other's patients. There is not one consistent way in which the physical therapists write goals for the patients. She was frustrated because it wasn't clear what the goal was working with the patient. Here are some examples she gave me of how a bad and a good goal make a difference for her patients: Poorly Written Goal: Client is able to walk Smart Goal: The patient will walk unassisted for 200 feet without pain within 8 weeks, by increasing walking distance by 20 feet each week through guided therapy and home exercises. Once the clearly defined outcome is defined, the next step is breaking down a roadmap to get there. This detailed work on the front end provides clarity for whoever is working with the patient, but also for the patient. Good news! This physical therapist is working with the team to get everyone one the same page to better serve their clients!

Dynamic Clinical Specialist | Doctor of Physical Therapy | Transformative Digital & Social Media Strategist | Aspiring Medical Device and Clinical Sales Representative
I just lost my father a month ago. In my career as a physical therapist, I've always been driven by a deep sense of purpose—to help people reclaim their lives, no matter the challenges they face. This purpose became even more personal and profound when my own father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. His journey was one of resilience, bravery, and hope. The moments that stand out the most are those where: (1) My Mom tended to Dad's every need during the harsh progression of Parkinson's, and (2) The use of innovative neuromodulation technology that gave Dad not just relief, but a renewed sense of independence and dignity. Witnessing the power of advanced rehab technology firsthand solidified my commitment to the intersection of healthcare and innovation. I stand for the relentless pursuit of solutions that enhance the quality of life for those living with debilitating conditions. I stand for empowering individuals to push beyond their limitations, supported by cutting-edge technology and compassionate care. As I embark on a new chapter in my career—merging my clinical expertise with the dynamic world of digital marketing and medical devices—my mission remains clear. I am here to advocate for, educate, and connect with those who are dedicated to transforming healthcare through innovation. My father's legacy is my inspiration, and my commitment to this mission is unwavering. Together, let's drive the future of rehab technology, ensuring that more people can experience the life-changing benefits that my father did. #InnovationInHealthcare #RehabTechnology #PhysicalTherapy #PatientAdvocacy #HealthcareInnovation

As a physical therapist, friends and family often ask for recommendations on where to go for care. Conversely, I enjoy hearing about their experiences when I hear friends and family have been to physical therapy. Last week, during a catch-up with a friend who mentioned undergoing physical therapy, I eagerly asked about her experience - but I was taken aback by her response. She explained that she had finally found a practice she liked after trying out two others. When I asked why she left, she mentioned several issues: 1. She wasn't greeted upon entering the practice. 2. She was left alone to do exercises she could have done at home. 3. She didn't understand why she was doing hip exercises when her knee was the source of pain. 4. She overheard unprofessional conversations among staff that made her uncomfortable. While many practices excel in providing excellent care, it's disheartening to hear that there are patients who feel compelled to change practices due to inadequate service and care. And I acknowledge that while not every practice is suitable for every patient, it's concerning that multiple clinics in her area seem to lack some of the basics of running a successful practice: 1. Prioritizing the patient experience 2. Building strong patient relationships 3. Providing patient education 4. Maintaining professionalism I was planning on posting about additional revenue streams today, but this felt more pressing—to send a reminder that although we treat patients day in and day out, each of our patients experiences their care from the viewpoint of one. Thanks to all the providers serving their patients, and here's to elevating the profession. #patientexperience #operationalexcellence #customerservice #patienteducation
