June is #CataractAwarenessMonth, and we want to share some important facts you should know: - Cataracts are a clouding of the eye's natural lens, leading to vision impairment. - Aging is the most significant risk factor, but prolonged UV exposure, diabetes, smoking, and family history also play a role. - By age 75, about half of all Americans will have cataracts. - Cataract surgery is highly effective, improving vision in about 97% of people. - Reduce the risk of developing cataracts by getting regular eye exams, wearing sunglasses to protect against UV rays, maintaining a healthy diet, and quitting smoking. -One of the country’s pioneering, pre-eminent surgeons lives right here in Chicago!
