I visited the Tokyo Game Show 2024, and I was surprised by the huge crowds on both the business and general public days. I was happy to see 🇵🇱 Poland's booth! 😊 ✴️ Gaming has evolved beyond outdated stereotypes of isolation and toxicity. ✴️ Gaming is now a highly social activity enjoyed by a diverse demographic (3.3 billion players globally). ✴️ The gaming industry is a major economic force, worth $188 billion, surpassing music and film combined. ✴️ Tech giants are increasingly entering the gaming space, leading to market consolidation that challenges smaller publishers. ✴️ Smaller game developers face difficulties competing with large corporations and gatekeepers like Apple and Google. ✴️ Studies indicate that online gamers tend to have better mental health and social connections. ✴️ Many LGBTQ individuals use gaming as a means of self-discovery and community.

🌟 Embracing Intersectionality: Navigating Racial Inequality with Depth and Nuance 🌟 As we continue to engage in vital discussions surrounding racial inequality, it's imperative that we delve into the depths of intersectionality to understand and address the multifaceted nature of these issues. While our focus rightly amplifies the struggles of the Black community, it's equally essential to acknowledge the unique challenges experienced by individuals of Asian descent and other minority groups. As an Asian individual, I've often found myself grappling with the complexity of our societal discourse. While I wholeheartedly support the spotlight on systemic injustices faced by Black individuals, it's also crucial to shed light on the distinct forms of discrimination and marginalisation that Asians encounter. In doing so, we're not engaging in a competition of suffering or attempting to undermine the experiences of any group. Instead, we're enriching the dialogue, broadening our understanding, and fostering empathy across diverse communities. By creating space for these nuanced conversations, we not only validate the experiences of individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds but also gain a deeper insight into the interconnectedness of systemic racism. Through acknowledging and addressing these intersections, we move closer to building a society that values diversity, equity, and inclusion at its core. Let's commit to embracing intersectionality in our discussions, amplifying diverse voices, and working collaboratively towards a future where every individual, regardless of race or ethnicity, can thrive. Together, we can effect meaningful change and create a more just and equitable world for generations to come. #MTICBIAI #MyTraumaIsChronicButIAmIconic #Intersectionality #RacialEquality #InclusiveDialogue #SocialJustice #EqualityForAll #DiversityAndInclusion #CommunityEngagement #Empathy #Solidarity #SystemicInjustice #Equity #ChangeMakers #UnitedWeStand #Empowerment #GlobalCitizenship 🌍✊

Age is a crucial factor when it comes to diversity and representation in the arts. Audiences yearn for their experiences to be reflected on stage, film, and emerging media platforms. Sadly, society fails to acknowledge and celebrate stories across a wide range of experiences. Consequently, organizations and companies are losing subscribers, viewers, support, and revenue. Inclusion demands embracing all ages, requiring sustained effort and an open mind. It may look different from what you perceive as diversity and inclusion, but it is crucial to ensure that everyone's experiences are represented. Let's work towards a more inclusive future for all. #Diversity #Inclusion #Arts #Representation #AgeRepresentation

#BlackLinkedIn has been my favorite corner of the internet lately 👀 The pipeline of conversations from Black media ➡ Black TikTok ➡ Black LinkedIn shows how insights travel digitally in a society that continues to merge personal and professional identities. In the past, when platforms have noticed this pipeline (RIP #BlackTwitter) they’ve found unique ways to participate in the conversation through ERGs and BRGs. Rarely do we see social media take an active interest in the celebration of these nuanced perspectives beyond the platform -- have you? LinkedIn, I'm curious if you've thought about new approaches to nurture these connections and conversations beyond the in-service experience. (Hint hint: is it time to take conversations from URL to IRL? 😉) #Advertising #Diversity #Inclusion

I had someone comment on a post telling me an ENTIRE community hates an org. It was extremely problematic. As a Black, queer, and neurodivergent person I cannot stand when people are monolithic about being a part of a marginalized group. It absolutely infuriates me. I cannot speak on behalf of the Black community just because I am Black. I can speak to my own experience as a Black person, but I cannot and do not ever say “the black community feels X, Y, and Z.” The millions of Black people in the U.S. do not agree on everything or think the same way. People will come onto posts and literally tell you why you’re wrong on behalf of an entire community. If you feel like you need to take a monolithic approach please DM me rather than starting a long convo where I get a ton of notifications due to comments. I really don’t want to have to delete comments because someone is taking a monolithic approach to an entire community they belong to. I would much rather get a calm DM explaining something then comments that make people genuinely believe all people from one group think the same way. That is incredibly problematic. I removed that person from my connections I cannot stand stereotyping or speaking on behalf of an entire group. An organization absolutely can have a reputation amongst part of or even the majority of a community. But millions of people from one marginalized group do not all hate, love, or like the same things. Respectfully, I please ask that if I post something that is intended to be uplifting and you find it offensive that you DM me. I get a lot of notifications and the more I see someone taking a monolithic approach to neurodivergence the more upset I get. Thank you for respecting this going forward. #neurodivergent #neurodivergence #notamonolith #neurodiversity #diversityofthought #blacklinkedin #blackpeople #blackwomen #blackgirlmagic #linkedin #linkedincommunity #neuroinclusion #stereotypes #monolithic #culture

Director and Co-Founder First Noble Institute | Author, Creative Director and Co-Creator HIS STORY OF THE WORLD | Member of International Black Speculative Arts Movement (BSAM) |
Why representation matters We all learn by copying behavior. We learn by observing the world around us. Representation matters because it shapes one's aspirations and self-esteem. When young minds see people who look like them achieving greatness, it ignites a belief that they too can achieve anything. That is why we First Noble Institute are on a mission to create new narratives rooted in African & Caribbean mythology. Our novels, VR experiences, art expos and theater performances are designed to inspire the audience and to showcase the depth and beauty of African Caribbean heritage and our shared world history. In weaving these enchanting tales and adventures, we aim to provide also young children of color with heroes and heroines who reflect their own rich heritage. Through storytelling, we can bridge the gap between generations, passing down the wisdom and magic of our ancestors. Our hope is that by presenting these vibrant narratives, we can instill a deep sense of pride and foster a connection to their roots. When they see characters who share their cultural background triumphing over challenges, it reinforces the idea that their history is a source of strength and resilience. But we don't want to stop at just representation; we want to celebrate and educate. Through our stories and new mythology we aim to share the traditions, folklore, and beauty of African and Caribbean cultures with a global audience. Especially now in this day and age it is more than ever important to come together, to overcome polarization and celebrate the power of representation, diversity, and inclusivity, both in the stories we tell and in the real world. It's up to us to inspire the next generation and create a brighter, more inclusive future for all children where they feel they also belong. If you also agree? Share your thoughts in the comment section and share how you would see representation come to life? ✨ Wizard of Engagement ✨ @ Indie Game Academy | Project Manager | Looking to uplift the voices of Game Devs, one post at a time | #OpenToNetwork 😄
Happy Juneteenth! Today is a day to recognize where we as a community can do better when it comes to supporting Black and POC voices in Games. 👫 As someone who's constantly striving to learn and create a welcoming community for all, there's some trends in media which I've come to realize NEED change. 💁🏾♀️ "The Black Best Friend": Often shown as the loyal friend or comedic relief to the main character. The earliest example i personally recall is Nickolodeon Network's Tucker Foley from Danny Phantom. 😠 "The Thug": A bundle of steryotypes which portray said individual as aggressive, rude, and typically meant to rally their audience against them. A lot of JRPGs will feature their main villain as someone with darker skin. Take: Ansem from Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts 🧑🏿🦱 "The Sidekick" Usually, these characters are there to support and provide help to the main character, but never truly get development of their own outside of their usefulness to the protagonist. IE: Dedue from Nintendo's Fire Emblem: Three Houses and his relationship with Dimitri. While I love the characters and franchises listed above to death, there's certainly room for improvement when it comes to breaking down existing steryotypes in Games. As such, I'd like to bring awareness to some organizations which should definitely be on one's radar: Black In Gaming Black Women Empowered Incorporated International Game Developers Association (IGDA®) Gay Gaming Professionals All of these organizations have in my opinion done wonders towards making sure minority voices in Games are seen, heard, and respected. Here's to a better tomorrow for ALL of our awesome community! 😆❤️ #GameIndustry #GameDev #IndieDev #Indie #Games #JuneTeenth #Community #LGBTQ+ #IndieRevolution #OpenToNetwork #Awareness #Support #Animation #Advice

Helping busy women lose 10-20lbs in 90 days without spending hours in the gym or cutting out your favorite foods using our Metabolic Reset Method
So when you ask "why do you create content for Black women" it's simple: there are experiences that some of you will never understand that impact our long term health, fitness and weight loss goals And that's OK Heck I'm GRATEFUL that the majority of my non-people of color friends CANNOT relate to these experiences My experiences have been painful My experiences have been extremely hurtful and hard to process My experiences made me question peoples intentions My experiences made me lose TRUST in people But my experiences also helped me solidify my decision to put Black Women and women of color at the forefront of our marketing Because after coaching now for almost 3 years with 75-90% of our clients being Black Women I realized that my experiences were common in our community And just like me, most of our clients had been ❗️Gaslit ❗️Dismissed ❗️Ignored when sharing, discussing or reporting their experiences This is why we NEED communities and safe spaces for us where we can share and process our experiences without being gaslit, dismissed or judged Spaces where we can feel validated, seen and heard when the world around us wants to tell us to "stop making everything about race" despite most of us still being discriminated against SOLELY based on race This why our private Facebook community exists as a SAFE SPACE for Black Women and women of color alike to share their experiences while simultaneously being an INCLUSIVE space for non-women of color who are open to learning and holding space when hearing about experiences they may not necessarily relate to If you'd like an invite to our private Facebook group where we create a safe space for you to go through your weight loss, health and fitness journey without fear of discrimination, judgment, or dismissal comment "ACCOUNTABILITY" below! #listentoblackwomen #blackmentalhealth #blacktiktok #blackexcellence #lifeasablackwoman #blackstories #softlife ##ptsd #blackwomenoftiktok #blackwomen #blackgirluxury #bwwm #juneteenth
