🌍 Are you challenged by underused spaces, lacking community engagement or needing innovative solutions? 🇮🇹 Rovereto is transforming its railway station into a hub for sustainability and community connection with the S4T - Station for Transformation project. Inspired by the principles of the New European Bauhaus, the project reimagines abandoned spaces as co-working areas, community kitchens and cultural venues, encouraging collaboration between urban and rural communities. 🌿🌁URBIO BAUHAUS project officially started! 🐞 We are happy to announce that the project URBIO BAUHAUS - New European Bauhaus (NEB) for increasing urban biodiversity began in June 2024. The kick-off meeting took place in Wroclaw, Poland, hosted by the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. Delegations from the 10 project partner institutions gathered to organise the collaborative work and officially initiate project's activities. The project aims at protecting and promoting urban biodiversity using the values of the New European Bauhaus initiative - sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion – as core guiding principles. Urban biodiversity solutions will be designed and implemented in 4 Central European cities: Pula, Kranj, Érd and Wroclaw. 📝Poliedra is leading WP3 - Transposing URBIO BAUHAUS Solutions into Policy and Governance - which focuses on providing a comprehensive legislative, policy and decision-making framework and delivering a Central European strategy for NEB-based urban biodiverse transitions. 📌 Follow along to discover the next steps and results of this project! 🚀 Exciting times for social impact and urban innovation! During our recent trip, Prof. Dr. Caroline Nevejan and Katya Letunovsky had the privilege of presenting groundbreaking methodologies and collaboration frameworks in Montenegro and Albania. Our journey aimed to replicate Amsterdam’s success in creating measurable social impact through innovative tools like the ESG Innovation Collective, Apollo Impact Compass, and CitiesDAO. Key Highlights: 1. Consortium Formation: Engaging local communities, researchers, the public sector, and private sponsors to foster impactful collaborations. 2. Data-Driven Insights: Utilizing the Foam Index and ethnographic research to address community challenges and improve urban living. Our presentations emphasized: - The importance of rhythm analysis for urban design solutions. - The potential of spatiotemporal big data in city management. - New avenues for policymaking with the Foam Index and Rhythm Research. Special thanks to all the stakeholders, including the Municipality of Tirana, Universiteti i Shkodrës 'Luigj Gurakuqi', Inovaciono preduzetnički centar Tehnopolis/Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Tehnopolis and University of Montenegro, Petrovic-Njegos Foundation, University of Donja Gorica, Municipality of Bar, Municipality of Danilovgrad, for their enthusiasm and willingness to collaborate. The insights gained and the connections made are invaluable as we move forward in applying these methodologies to enhance urban resilience and sustainability. 🌟 Reflecting on Year 1: UNPplus EU and the journey to more biodiverse and resilient cities 🏙️🌿 As 2024 draws to a close, we celebrate the first year of #UNPplus, a transformative Horizon Europe initiative that is helping cities across Europe to develop Urban Nature Plans (UNPs) - key strategies for integrating #nature into #urbandevelopment and resilience💚 Working with cities such as PARIS NATURE - Ville de Paris - Espaces verts et environnement Barcelona Regional, Stadt Mannheim, Belgrade and Burgas, we've advanced the integration of urban nature 🌳 and fostered cross-sector collaboration to enhance #biodiversity 🦋, mitigate #climatechange 🌎 and improve #publichealth 💪 Key highlights: 🔧 Capacity building through surveys and tools to fill knowledge gaps 👥 Citizen engagement through the Urban Butterfly Count bringing people closer to nature 🏙️ Cities like Paris, Barcelona and Mannheim showing leadership in urban ecology 📅 As we head towards 2025, UNPplus will continue to push the boundaries of urban nature planning, emphasising connectivity, advanced biodiversity monitoring, and long-term strategies 🔄 🌍 The path to more biodiverse and resilient cities is clearer than ever!
