In recent years, the #US has been stepping up its game to compete with China for influence in the Global South. But to really make a mark, Washington needs to offer competitive alternatives to Huawei, ZTE, and other Chinese companies. For developing countries with infrastructure and digital access gaps, this presents an opportunity to leverage geostrategic competition to gain access to technology and wider network of partners such as Microsoft. However, competing with China is no walk in the park. The US will need to balance this with other national security concerns as the country to looks to de-risk supply chains and secure its tech lead for the fourth industrial revolution. Great to speak with Mark Bergen at Bloomberg about the US-China digital infrastructure competition in Kenya and the potential risks and challenges Microsoft might face there. https://lnkd.in/eM4vmqvy
