There are company names that resonate in the field of Worldwide industry. GE Additive is one on these great companies. ORTHOMANUFACTURE does not yet have this reputation (!) but however these great names trust us and will exhibit on the 15th and 16th in Arc-Et-Senans (France) to the next edition of our 8th European Congress on Implantable Technologies. There is no shortcut when it comes to additive. No skipping steps. But for the ready, there is a way to get there faster. To accelerate your path from prototype to full production. To put the people who pioneered full metal additive production to work for you. At GE Additive, they have the machines, powders, software and knowhow to help you to find a faster path to production. #additivemanufacturing #machines #powders #metals #3dprinting

This is sad to see (and costly for my stock portfolio) but I do hope and think the company will survive. I admit I got overexcited about Velo3D's promises and initial rapid growth, seeing the adoption of their massive (and very cool looking) systems across many key industrial segments and within so many amazing companies, from Launcher and Relativity Space to SpaceX and AVIO. One more company struggling and yet the metal AM industry continues to grow. How? Well, for one both Nikon SLM Solutions and EOS are now producing machines in the US. And then there are the Colibrium Additive - a GE Aerospace company, Renishaw, Bright Laser Technologies - BLT and Eplus3D Additive Manufacturing's of the world...

I am not surprised to see the slide of Velo. They will need to change their business plan to survive. As a user of machines (13 metal machines installed with another on the way) I have installed a few different brands of machines but not a Velo. The perception that medical and aerospace have no budget constraints is untrue. The market is getting increasingly competitive across the AM sector but especially metal. When I investigated the Velo machine the cost of producing parts was just not even close. It is expensive to buy and expensive to run. This is not a winning strategy. Machine makers are trying to justify the high price of machines by adding lots of bells and whistles, most are gimmicks that add very little value. At the end of the day the machine must do the basic job well and be efficient to use and competitive to buy.

How does multi-laser technology enable material property gradients in #MetalAM? 💥💥 #MaterialsMonday While everybody is talking about the future advantages of Beam Shaping, there is a suitable solution already implemented in many of the current #MetalAM systems - like our Nikon SLM Solutions 280. The dual-laser exposure strategy implemented by Dr.-Ing. Gregor Graf is setting new standards in functional grading for Metal #AdditiveManufacturing. Through precisely calibration procedure, we’re able to selectively harden areas within a component, providing targeted durability and toughness for high-performance applications. 👉 With a calibrated dual-laser setup, we can reach up to 99.9% material density and achieve a controlled 15% boost in hardness. 👉 The technology is perfect for manufacturing durable, complex parts where varying material properties are crucial. 👉 This breakthrough allows us to engineer components with wear-resistant surfaces and flexible cores, all in one seamless build process. Functionally graded materials made through dual-laser exposure could redefine standards in industries from aerospace to high-strength tooling. 💬 Would your industry benefit from functionally graded materials? 👇 Link to the research paper in the comments #Innovation #3DPrinting 🌐
