Just a normal day at DU! End of the fifth semester in less than 25 days! Yesterday, many students had to go to the admin office to fill out the bonds and to get their admit cards. Without the signed admit card you cannot appear for the examinations! I went with my friends and got scared looking at the crowd of students. I had to wait around 2 hours in the line to get the form. This showed the mismanagement of the college authorities. Suddenly, I heard a voice of a student saying," Koi bat nahi ab bs 6th sem me ek or bar admin ke dhakke khane hai". At that moment I realised only one semester to go. ⇰No more classes ⇰No more bunks ⇰No more assignments ⇰No more sipping tea with college friends ⇰No more society meetings ⇰No more college fests/events ⇰No more getting in line at the college administration office How much we are stuck in the possibility of future events that we often forget we soon are going to leave the current happenings as well. Right now, everyone is thinking of getting good placements and internships not knowing that afterwards, we are going to miss these days a lot. Here's to the remaining five months of college🍻 #nostalgia #college #5thsemester #placement #internship #classes #administration

We walk this learning path together! ✨ Today, we celebrate our in-person summer interns. Four outstanding professionals gained hands-on experience thanks to our local collaboration network here in Costa Rica. Let's hear what they have to say about their journey: Neelam, Durham College - Social Service Worker at ASONI. "This program didn't just enhance my resume, it ignited a passion for lifelong learning and global engagement. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped who I am today." Zoi, Durham College - Social Service Worker at ASONI. "I was continually surprised at how quick the GLP team was to respond to my concerns, questions, and messages. I never felt like a bother for asking for something, and usually, I have a hard time asking for things!" Nneka, Durham College - Social Service Worker at ASONI. "I can say GLP made me feel welcomed and heard. They are VERY accommodating, and they care about ME, not just the work. I would highly recommend GLP to every student and school. Overall amazing experience, 10/10!" Christine Yobhel Napigkit (Bhel), Western University - Teacher at Saint Gregory School CR. "If you want to learn about the people, culture and day-to-day life in Costa Rica; if you want to enhance your skills, abilities and knowledge, as well as discover new ones; and if you want to create unforgettable memories; GLP is the only answer!" At GLP, we are always amazed by our participant's professional and integral growth. As you study, you learn. As you study and travel, you transcend. . . . #interns #internships #professionaldevelopment #socialwork #teaching #internationaleducation

Throwback to my early work days! One surprising lesson I learned early in my career was the difference between academical knowledge and practical knowledge. Academical knowledge, acquired through formal education, encompasses theoretical concepts, principles, and facts, while practical knowledge, gained through hands-on experience, involves the application of these theories in real-world situations. Academical knowledge is often abstract and broadly applicable, taught in structured environments, and evaluated through exams and essays. In contrast, practical knowledge is specific, context-dependent, and assessed based on performance in real-world tasks, learned in dynamic settings like workplaces and through internships. Both types are complementary, with academic learning providing the foundational understanding that practical experience builds upon and adapts to real-life challenges.
