A lot of effort went into your application, and the EPS believes you will make an exceptional police officer. To make that happen, your first year will look something like this: ▶️ Recruit Training Class (26-28 weeks) You'll now head into Recruit Training Class with your peers for approximately 26-28 weeks. Training is designed to prepare your mental and physical readiness, exposing you to a multitude of scenarios, testing and situations to see how effectively you will respond. As most do, you'll make the cut and proceed to Recruit Graduation! ▶️ Field Development, PTO Program (Approx. 17 weeks, onward). Recruits are assigned to one of 6 operational divisions across Edmonton, and partnered with a Police Training Officer (PTO). This portion involves constant assessment and training, ensuring you are capable of become an independent and successful police officer. The EPS makes every effort to ensure recruits and officers in training have the tools and supports needed to become successful. Leaving the police.. and thriving! Last night we kicked off the latest Mightify online career change course. Yes, this is about: - writing a good CV - translating and transferring skills - learning to "sell" yourself online and in interview But it's also about: - finding an environment that values you - aligning what you do with who you are - giving yourself permission to do things you actually want to do Hearing stories from the group is always a complex mix of emotions for me. Humbling to hear what people have achieved and how their ambitions often continue to centre on making a difference or helping others. Exciting to think of the possibilities they haven't quite seen yet. Sad to hear how policing continues to lose great people through entirely avoidable behaviour and short-sighted decisions. I have no doubt this group will emerge with increased self-awareness, self-confidence and practical tools. The possibilities are endless!
