NEW: Businesses can now take the 2024 DC Small Business Census online! DC-headquartered businesses can now participate in DC’s Small Business Census in just 3-5 minutes online at DCSmallBusinessSurvey.com. Each business that responds is helping District Government make smarter investments in our small business community. That's because the data business owners provide will be used to identify areas that may need support, evaluate the success of our existing grant programs, and share more grant and community-building opportunities with our small business community. Business owners may have already received a call or visit from a member of the DC Small Business Census team since April. If your business has already participated in the survey this year, you do not have to do so again. Please help us to ensure that business owners of all backgrounds can thrive in our city. Learn more at dmped.dc.gov/sbc, and participate in the Small Business Census today at DCSmallBusinessSurvey.com before October 31. Please feel free to reach out to project lead Hannah Eli at hannah.eli@dc.gov or the project team at DCSmallBusinessCensus@bbcresearch.com with any questions.

Through Mayor Bowser's investments in the Vitality Fund, we are attracting new businesses to DC and helping companies expand their presence, creating jobs for residents and filling office space in our Downtown. Yesterday, Mayor Bowser and Deputy Mayor Nina Albert joined Kellen to cut the ribbon on their headquarters! Kellen, a global association management company and Vitality Fund awardee, relocated their HQ from Atlanta, GA, to Washington, DC, and will double the number of staff here. We're grateful to CEO Travis Rush and the entire team at Kellen for choosing DC. And we think he said it best: "Certainly, the association space values the proximity to decisionmakers and policymakers in the District, but also the Vitality Grant was kind of the cherry on top that really made the decision easier for us...We're very excited for what the future holds. We're very bullish in general on DC, not only, obviously, as a political capital, but as a business capital for many years to come. It's important to our clients and it's important to our staff.” To learn more about the District's Vitality Fund and how to apply, visit https://lnkd.in/ek7Bsmtp. https://lnkd.in/ewGJPjqe

We are proud that Mayor Bowser's Vitality Fund enabled Virtru to stay in Washington, DC. Thank you JLL and Washington DC Economic Partnership for your support in helping businesses locate and remain in our great city. "Another critical component to [Virtru’s] decision to stay and grow in DC was the Vitality Fund. This program, launched in 2023 by Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, supports companies in target industries that are actively planning to relocate, expand or retain their workplace location in Washington DC. As the Vitality Fund’s first recipient, Virtru doubled down on its commitment to downtown DC and expects to grow its workforce exponentially over the next five years and beyond.”
As a cutting-edge technology firm specializing in data protection and privacy solutions, Virtru‘s next phase of growth required a space that reflected their innovative culture would serve as a central ‘hub’ for their talented workforce. That’s why Virtru partnered with JLL to find and create their dynamic and vibrant headquarters in the heart of Washington, DC. Virtru recognized the importance of staying true to its roots and focused their search on downtown DC. As a center for innovation and growth, it was crucial for Virtru to maintain a strong presence in the community where the company was founded. By leveraging JLL's deep market knowledge and workplace expertise, Virtru now has a headquarters that aligns with their company values and vision, and represents their leadership in the industry.
