Today, I proudly mentored this amazing team for the 2024 Australasian Local Government Management Challenge, held in Campbelltown. The team fondly named the Port Stephens Sabres, did PSC proud. They’re a diverse, fun, energetic and talented group of people, who worked so well as a team, pushed themselves outside of their comfort zones and ultimately learned a lot throughout the day in order to develop themselves!   Sabres, you definitely embraced your name, logo and theme by outlandishly celebrating your successes throughout the day with the “Danger Zone” theme song from Top Gun together with the famous high five slap, shared between Maverick and Goose 😊   No matter the result team, hold your heads high and be proud of yourselves – well done!!! 👊 ⭐   Fun fact about the rich history of the Port Stephens Sabre is that: * Following the outbreak of war in Korean in June 1950, the Sabre was in short supply and to address the problem the RAAF elected to purchase a locally built and redesigned version of the F-86. * Avon Sabre first flew on 3 August 1953. During a test flight of this aircraft at Avalon Airfield on 21 August 1953, the pilot, Flight Lieutenant Bill Scott, took the aircraft to a height of 42 000 feet (12 800 metres), put it into a dive and at 36 000 feet (11 000 metres) exceeded the speed of sound thus becoming the first aircraft in Australia to break the sound barrier. * The first production Sabre, A94-901, was delivered to the Aircraft Research and Development Unit on 19 August 1954. * The Sabre was in service until 31 July 1971 when it was officially retired. * A94-951 (on display) was delivered to the Air Force on 4th December, 1956 and transferred to 78 Wing. * Approval was given in 1971 to display the aircraft at the entrance to RAAF Williamtown where it remained until being moved to Fighter World in 1991. - Courtesy of Fighter World #psc #teamwork #australasianmanagementchallenge2024 #localgovernment #talent #development #mentoring  

Yesterday was my first event representing Satcom Direct along with Michael Tombs at the ADS Group Ltd summer barbecue, hosted at the Oval Cricket Ground in London. The ADS Group Ltd is focused on securing UK advantage across aerospace, defence, security and space. We met with lots of great people from many different companies. A few common conversations topics were: - How can we increase risk appetite inside businesses to develop capability at a quick enough pace for the customers changing product requirements? - How do we manage product certifications like UKCA, considering changes, cost implications etc. Can these products be made modular enough to allow for rapid changes when needed, can industry agree on open standards? As always great to catch up with Nick Beer at BFBS and discuss how we can collaborate moving forward.

🌐Reflecting on a Remarkable Journey: Unclassified Project with United States Department of Defence 🛡️ I am grateful for the opportunity to recall an important chapter in my professional journey. In 2016-2017, I had the honor of contributing to an unclassified project with the United States Defence. This experience was not just a project but a profound lesson in collaboration, innovation, and the power of collective expertise. Working alongside dedicated professionals in the defence sector opened my eyes to the meticulous planning and commitment to excellence that underpins every initiative. The exchange of ideas, the pursuit of cutting-edge solutions, and the shared commitment to a common goal showcased the true spirit of collaboration. This project reinforced the importance of adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments. It is these experiences that shape us, refine our skills, and instil a deep appreciation for the impact our work can have on a broader scale.
