Today is #DyingtoKnowDay an annual day about having those difficult conversations around death, dying and bereavement. Also, about rallying community actions to reduce the stigma associated with this often-taboo topic. This year's focus is about 'personalising final arrangements and building community', which provides a great opportunity for health professionals to talk or present to Australians to help them feel supported for end-of-life planning. To help all Australians feel supported and inspired by their own wishes for their final arrangements and help to dismantle the misconception that end-of-life planning must be a solitary endeavour. Together, we can break down the stigma and sense of awkwardness associated with conversations about death, dying and grief. Yesterday, we shared the importance of breaking the silence on abuse and the powerful role truth plays in the healing journey. Too often, society pushes victims to stay silent out of fear of shame or disbelief, without realizing the long-lasting impact that forced silence can have on them, affecting their self-worth, future relationships, and even life goals. Today, we want to hear from you: What role do you think friends and family should play in helping someone heal from abuse? 💬 When loved ones listen, believe, and support rather than silence, they help turn that pain into power. Let’s discuss how we can all create an environment where survivors feel safe and supported in speaking their truth. Your insights could be the encouragement someone needs. 🌱 #SupportSurvivors #BreakTheSilence #HealingTogether #CommunityCare #Chrysaliscareinitiative #SolaceRootProgram

Between now and September 12 more than 500 lives will be lost to suicide. Each life lost is a person, a family, a community enduring profound loss. While RUOK? Day, scheduled for September 12, is a vital initiative, our responsibility doesn't start and end there. Asking "Are you okay?" is a powerful start, but it's the deeper, ongoing conversations that truly matter. Consider asking "How are you okay?" or "If you weren't okay, would you tell me?" These questions can open doors to conversations that might otherwise remain closed. Let's not wait for a designated day to extend our compassion. Every day is an opportunity to connect genuinely, to listen actively, and to offer support. It's about being present and being ready to walk alongside someone when they need it most. Keep checking in and keep listening. Your compassion could be the lifeline someone needs. If you or someone you know is seriously injured or at risk of harm right now, call Emergency Services on 000. If you need help, call Lifeline on 13 11 14, Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636, or consult a Doctor. #RUOKDay2024 #MentalHealthAwareness #CheckIn #SupportEachOther #CommunityCare #SuicidePrevention #EverydayCompassion #MentalHealthMatters**

⏳ Very excited to launch 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸: 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, our new campaign to encourage conversations about #dying and #grieving. The campaign aims to help people navigate conversations surrounding advance care planning, death and grief with loved ones, so that end-of-life wishes are known and can be carried out. These conversations can difficult, but they're important to have. 𝗔𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹𝗮 𝗢'𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗘𝗢, 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝘀: "It is often easier to have these conversations when a person is well. The result is that the person’s end-of-life wishes are known – as opposed to families having to figure things out. Knowing how to start the conversation is really important, and this campaign gives people the tips and resources to do that.” For resources to start conversations about dying and grieving and to learn more about the campaign, visit 👉 https://lnkd.in/eZF6XfiW #TimeToTalk #TomorrowStartsToday #DeathPlanning
