Vicenzaoro September 2024, A Success Beyond Market Uncertainties
The international positioning of IEG’s exhibition is confirmed with visitors arriving from a total of 132 different countries at this September edition. The number of visitors from Europe increased to 63.37% (compared to 52% in September last year), led by Spain, France and Germany, while those from Asia and the Middle East reached 21% (17% in 2023).
VICENZAORO - ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP
Some figures about VICENZAORO - ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP September 2024 edition:
- 1200 exhibitors
- visitors from more than 130 different countries
- more than 63% of the visitors were from Europe
- lead countries: Spain, France and Germany
Corrado Peraboni, CEO of Italian Exhibition Group Spa, said to local newspaper Il Giornale di Vicenza - GdV Weekly that "... after a steady progression of attendances, we have now reached the new normal ...".
The show timing was quite close to the end of the Italian summer holidays which probably led to a limited affluence from Italy, many retailers being still busy with the end of season.
Some factors which probably have affected the show attendande:
- turmoil caused by ongoing wars and conflicts
- high gold rate (still raising)
- incertitude about the diamond market due to the #labgrowndiamonds rise
Did someone of you visit or exhibit at Vicenzaoro? Which are your experience and impression?

What do you do if you work at the Institut für Windenergiesysteme (LUH) and you want to travel to a scientific wind energy conference such as Torque 2024? Right, you travel by train. So we do 😎. We is Felix Prigge, Basem Rajjoub and A.Wasay Khan. Looking forward to arrive in Florence tomorrow morning.
However, there is room for improvements at railway companies to make the decision to travel by train easier, as literally NOTHING worked out as originally planned:
- Local train from home to the office in the morning cancelled, took the next one 30 min later. Doable.
- Train from Hanover to Munich cancelled, without a message, looked like train did not exist, even in the app. Bad communication. Took the next train more than 1 hour later. Not doable without planning tons of time for changing the train - which we fortunately did. However, less time for a fine Bavarian dinner… Not so nice, but still somewhat ok.
- Nightjet from Munich to Florence: Couchette replaced by a seat wagon. Curious how comfortable and relaxing the journey is going to be. Will potentially report on that tomorrow. However, that is unreasonable. I may prepare with some Bavarian beer for the night.
The lesson learned is - again, as last year: Plan enough time for changing trains and take the time of an international business travel by train as an adventure and an invaluable team building event, which it basically is.
Anyways, please, Deutsche Bahn and ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG, improve your services. I fear this is not the way we can convince people to change from cars and planes to trains.

Luxury Customers Collect Art
The 60th Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia art exhibition starts this week.
One of the most important events in the art calendar.
Many luxury customers collect and invest in art. There is and always has been a strong connection between luxury and art. #luxurycustomers
Interestingly the two largest luxury markets (China and USA) are also the largest art markets. #luxurymarket#artmarket
Luxury brands often partner with art institutions to attract customers. #luxurybrandpartnerships
In recent years there has been some interesting changes in the art market that has affected luxury customers.

France wasn't always a leader in luxury.
Before the 17th century, it lagged behind Italy and China in producing luxury goods.
During Louis XIV's reign, Minister of Finance Jean-Baptiste Colbert made significant efforts to transform the French craftsmanship.
These efforts laid the foundation for France's dominance in luxury.
This is why when Jean-Jacques Guerlain created an initiative to "rekindle the desire for French art de vivre," he named it after Jean-Baptiste Colbert: Comité Colbert#luxury#luxurybusiness#luxurystrategy#luxuryhistory
