Decommissioning is a term that means to stop using. , or remove from service It is NOT specific to oil and gas but to any industry Be military any sort of manufacturing etc It is very fascinating when done off shore, because of the complexity, the challenges of the environment that are so dynamic The distances, all the scheduling and careful and precision of carefully planned work force, and equipment can be blown away by dear Mother Nature, inspite of of careful meticulous planning A you have to love contingencies!! And always plan for the worst scenarios Happy planning folks

Subsea Pipeline Trenching Subsea Pipeline trenching is conducted for one or more of reasons that to increase stability, to protect the subsea pipeline from damage, to improve the insulation. There are many methods of offshore pipeline trenching such as ploughing, mechanical excavation, jetting and dredging. These ways will be discussed in more details later here https://lnkd.in/d9YvuKUk The selection of the most appropriate method of trenching under the particular prevailing soil conditions is essential. Where there are mixed conditions it may be possible to combine the use of more than one method. 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 As part of a major oil & gas midstream production facility, Layfield recently installed a complicated double lined containment system. HazGard 635FR was installed as the primary liner. HazGard 635FR is a fire retardant grade flexible geomembrane developed for secondary containment of combustible liquids. To expand storage capacity, 2800 lineal feet of a 12’ high vertical containment wall was constructed. The total tank farm area including the walls were double lined.  The project had significant pipe penetrations and structures requiring difficult mechanical connections and welding challenges.  Photos during construction. https://lnkd.in/gKFUNYWe #oilandgas #geomembrane #geosynthetics #geotechnicalengineering Layfield Geosynthetics Fabricated Geomembrane Institute

HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILL Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a construction technique whereby a tunnel is drilled under a waterway or other designated area, and a pipeline or other utility is pulled through the drilled underground tunnel. The first stage consists of directionally drilling a small diameter pilot hole along a designed directional path. The second stage involves enlarging this pilot hole to a diameter suitable for installation of the pipeline. The third stage consists of pulling the pipeline back into the enlarged hole.
