I recently interviewed Réthy Katalin as part of an interview series I am doing with fellow PLUS Change Project Ambassadors. Katalin is an Agroecology professional and small-scale farmer and for the PLUS Change project she is representing small-scale farmers, seed savers, agroecology activists/researchers. Role: Field Assistant Location: Melghat Tiger Reserve and Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve Project Details: This study is conducted by Sharayu Jakhotiya (Principal Investigator) who is a doctoral candidate at the University of British Columbia, Canada. The study is for a doctoral dissertation. Requirements: · Taking detailed notes during interviews, focus group discussions, and all other field activities during participation or observation · Supporting the Principal Investigator in conducting Focus Group Discussions which might include interacting with participants · Taking photos and videos when necessary for the purpose of the study · Voice recording the interviews · Studying administrative documents, minutes of Gram Sabha meetings, and other documents · Managing multiple responsibilities during the study, including adapting to situations on the field, and supporting the Principal Investigator · Writing down observations at the end of the day, discussing them with the Principal Investigator · Driving locally within villages (4-wheeler/2-wheeler). Vehicle will be arranged by the Principal Investigator · Arranging group lunches for the participants during the study and arranging an interactive workshop after data analysis for sharing of results Eligibility: · The candidate should be interested in socio-ecological and socio-economic studies · Should be fluent (reading, writing, and speaking) in English, Marathi, and Hindi · Good communication and people skills are a must · Candidate must be excellent at taking notes, photos, and videos · Preference will be given to local candidates from Amravati/Chandrapur districts, who have previous experience, affiliation to communities, or local organizations, and who are able to drive both 4 wheelers and 2 wheelers · Candidate should be willing to stay locally along with the Principal Investigator during the study · Third year/final year Bachelor’s students or Master’s students in relevant fields are encouraged to apply A monthly stipend of INR 10,000 will be paid to the selected candidate.
