HSBC is not what it may appear like.. Beware.. At HSBC, it’s not just about words on paper or corporate jargon. The company, especially the leadership, actually practice what they preach. Personally, what endears me to the company is the leadership that really walks the talk and encourages "Speak Up", without fear or favour. Yesterday evening when I had a connect with my Regional Learning and Talent Leader, Abraham Zachariah, he asked how am I doinh and I could candidly say, "Quite tired actually Abe, been a long day". Without hesitation, he replied, "take the time to recuperate, we can connect later". And just like that, I had the right to disconnect. Sustainability is also at the heart of what we do, shaping the way we conduct business and how we impact the world. It’s not just a goal; it’s part of our core mission. Opportunities for career growth and learning are endless. HSBC has opened doors for countless employees to pursue their aspirations, providing continuous support and encouragement to expand my skills and advance their career. I have so many anecdotal examples to share that I can write a book.. Maybe I will, one day.. Diversity and inclusion aren’t just buzzwords. They are woven into the fabric of our culture. When you look at our workforce, you know that we don't just "tolerate" differences, we celebrate and cherish them.. And don't get me started on the focus for holistic wellbeing. Yesterday we had a session with our regional HR leader, David Gareth Thomas. He said somehing along these lines, " High Performing employees are balanced employees - those who have a life beyond work and not make work their life"... HSBC is not what it may appear like.. It's better!
“Customer service is in my DNA.” Meet Sithambaram Pillay, a Transformation Manager for our Wealth and Personal Banking Contact Centre in Malaysia. He knows the importance of great customer service. He learned it as a child while helping in the family’s village shop – and he’s built on those foundations during a 20-year career at HSBC. #HSBC #CustomerService #LifeatHSBC

Reflecting on Corporate Realities It’s disheartening to see how, at times, perceptions in the corporate world can overshadow real talent. In my experience, I've seen how this can stifle growth and drive away those who bring true value. It’s a reminder of how important it is to foster an environment where merit, integrity, and hard work are valued over superficial impressions. A culture that recognizes and nurtures its people is what builds long-term success for both the organization and its employees. I’m fortunate to now be part of HSBC , a company that truly lives its values. HSBC values Difference by embracing diversity, inclusion, and collaboration; believes in Succeeding Together by working across boundaries; Takes Responsibility by holding itself accountable; and is committed to Getting It Done with pace and purpose. Let’s aim to create spaces where everyone, not just a few, can thrive. #HSBCValues

🚀 HSBC’s New “No Fixed Address” Advert: Why It Matters 🚀 HSBC’s new “No Fixed Address” advert is a powerful example of how brands can use their influence to make a real impact on social issues, especially those affecting the most vulnerable in our society. For those of us working in social hiring—like we do at Amey —it’s a meaningful reminder that barriers like homelessness shouldn’t define someone’s potential or access to opportunity. At Amey, we’re committed to creating social value through our hiring practices, and this means actively working to support individuals who are often furthest from the labor market. People experiencing housing insecurity, financial instability, or social challenges should still have a fair shot at employment. These are talented, resilient people who, given the chance, can thrive in the right role. HSBC’s ad highlights an important truth: without a fixed address, many people face exclusion from essential services. In recruitment, we often take basics like contact info or access to right to work documents for granted. But for some, these simple things to you and me are barriers to opportunity. By addressing these challenges head-on, HSBC’s campaign has created space for all of us to rethink accessibility and inclusion. 👉 As recruiters and businesses, let’s ask ourselves: How can we help remove barriers to employment and make work accessible for everyone? #SocialHiring #InclusiveEmployment #HSBC #SocialValue #Amey https://lnkd.in/eycJgNY7

Today is an emotional day as I announce my decision to retire as HSBC Group Chief Executive. Working for this organisation for the past 37 years has been nothing short of phenomenal. It has given me some unforgettable memories and experiences, especially the time I spent living in Hong Kong and serving clients across Asia. Leading it for the last five years has been a privilege I never imagined. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved in transforming the bank and driving a record financial performance in 2023. The evidence is the almost $28bn of dividends and share buy-backs that we’ve announced over the last 15 months. It has been a huge collective team effort and I want to pay tribute to all my colleagues for their tremendous efforts. After a non-stop 37-year career and an intense last 16 years since I took on the role of leading the UK Commercial Bank, this is the right decision for me and for HSBC. In the future, I’m looking forward to striking a better balance between my work and personal life. But in the meantime, my full focus is on keeping the good momentum going.

A Grateful Reflection on the last day of 2024 As I look back on my time with HSBC, I feel immense gratitude for the experiences and relationships that have shaped my career.
