It was fantastic to attend the UK Chamber of Shipping Autumn lunch. New contacts and conversations made and reconnecting with others. Two major themes really being discussed: 1. Challenges of Recruitment and retention, primarily for seafarers. However there is an important part for shore based employers to play too in raising awareness of careers in the maritime sphere. Shipping is a rock n’ roll industry- we need to be shouting about it. 2. Challenges of decarbonisation and future proofing fleets. This is a massive issue and there won’t be a one size fits all solution. Something I have been invovled in this year with RINA projects. I want to do more! RINA can help on both these areas - we are always keen to talk to people wishing to work in the maritime sector! 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗔 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗦, 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥? 🎅 Santa Claus is a tradition, but how old is he at all? Some sources say, that he is more than 1750 years old and some of them suggest for his age 200 years. Very old I would say, anyway. Let this posting be my tradition in context with Santa Claus and for the Holiday Season in the end of the year. Through our job and other activities, we hear and see so many different leadership models and theories. So many that we can´t count them at all, but have you ever thought that Santa Claus´ business is one the biggest in the world and Santa itself is one of the biggest bosses in the whole universe. Doing a Google research underlines this very well. For my search “Santa as a leader” I got more 180 000 000 results. It seems, that 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆, which you can read and study from several books. Here are my favorites of Santa´s Leadership strategy ➡️Santa has a 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 ➡️His 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰 is unparalled ➡️Santa 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 and forgets the bad ➡️He 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 without seeking credit ➡️Santa is 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 ➡️He 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 (and reindeer🦌) and knows them well ➡️Santa builds a solid 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 ➡️He creates a 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 ➡️Santa is a 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 ➡️️Santa 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 despite his success and fame Do we need more leader like Santa Claus, with such a high standards?
