Today Oglethorpe Power, Georgia Transmission Corporation and Georgia EMC united to support The Burn Foundation of America by presenting a donation of $10,000 to support the organization's invaluable work. The Burn Foundation supports burn patients and their families at several burn centers in the U.S., including the Joseph M. Still (JMS) Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. “Having access to a state-of-the-art burn facility is not just a privilege but a vital lifeline for those facing critical situations. We are proud to support The Burn Foundation of America and the important work they do to care for Georgians in need." - Mike Smith, Oglethorpe Power President & CEO. My Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF) fundraiser is building momentum! Thanks to my friends and family who have donated so far. But we still have some time left! My family is supporting CLF for a few of reasons: First, we want youth sports to be safe for our kids. That’s something I would hope we all can get behind. Second, there are way too many ex-athletes of all ages who are suffering from symptoms of CTE. The free CLF HelpLine provides personalized support to those struggling with the outcomes of brain injury including concussions, post-concussion syndrome, and suspected CTE. Offering medical and educational resources, 1:1 peer support, and peer support groups, this interactive community provides patients and caregivers an inclusive, safe setting to recover together. So far, 6,000 families have benefitted from the CLF HelpLine, and with your help, we can grow this unique, vital, and FREE resource that changes lives. Finally, as we approach Memorial Day, we do this to support our veterans. We all know about some of the struggles that our veterans face after serving our country. What is new is the number of veterans that are discovered to have signs of CTE. Our military veterans and their families deserve to get resources they need to deal with the effects of brain trauma. CLF’s Project Enlist is designed to get those families the answers and the help they need. Please consider making a donation today at https://lnkd.in/eVRzhuUV.

At my lowest point, two untrained, unregulated advocates interfered via social media, paralysing the joint constabulary open investigation." Ephesians 3:17-18 NIV "...I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power…to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ." Survivors of human trafficking and trauma often have firmly rooted destructive beliefs. Some of these beliefs are that they're unloved, dirty, worthless, damaged, or broken. Some also believe that what happened to them was their fault, or that they deserved it. These rooted destructive beliefs are toxic and often paralyze them from healing. At Restoring Oaks, Inc., our goal is to help survivors dig up these toxic roots and replace them with roots of truth, love, and purpose. The theme of our 2024 gala is "Firmly Rooted". Evan Owens, Executive Director of Reboot Recovery, will share where these roots begin and how we can help survivors plant new, life giving roots to help them heal. During the Gala, we will also share a recap of 2023 and some exciting news about where we are heading in 2024 for direct survivor care and community education and advocacy. We will need your help to make this happen and you will know exactly how your donations will help with impact. $70/adults $55/minors (suggested age 16+) Register Now: https://lnkd.in/e6nUf83x Please register by 1/7/24.

The latest episode of Light in the D!
In the latest episode of Light in the D, I engage in a conversation with my friend and brother in Christ, Gary Abud, who was diagnosed with Keratoconus at age 10 - an eye disease that affects the structure of the cornea. Gary candidly shares how this disease shaped his life up to his early 20s, including his journey through college, and how a life-changing organ donation granted him sight after years of severely blurred eyesight. We delve into the profound impact this experience had on his faith and the touching story of the donor's mother, whose son's corneas gave Gary the gift of sight. We also touch on and address the controversies around organ donation. #organdonors #organtransplant #faith #healing #eyedisease https://lnkd.in/gfQa2JuG
