Innovative Developmental Audiologist looking behind the curtain at the physiological and developmental cause of your child's struggle 🔑 Educational Hacker 🔑 Auditory Processing Specialist
Have you been led to believe that APD testing is not valid when using speech stimuli to test? Just consider this... Wouldn't the best way to differentiate between a language processing vs. auditory processing disorder be to compare the responses in tests that use speech stimuli vs. tests that use tones or clicks? Very often I see tweens or teens who have received speech therapy. The gains they have made from the therapy are most obvious when they perform well on a speech based test, such as speech in noise in comparison to a non-speech test such as masking level differences (which also has the person listening with noise in the background. If you're not in the field you may be wondering, "If the speech therapy was so effective that they are passing the language based auditory processing test why are they even coming in for testing?" You may have another question as well, "Why even use speech based tests if you have non-speech options?" Both these questions are important, but given the controversy surrounding diagnosis of APD I'll raise the bar by asking, "With objective options available (such as various EEG), why are we doing subjective measures at all?" #BeAnEducatedConsumer #DidYouKnow #ListenHear

Sales leader focused on retention and enhancing the customer experience. Committed to driving Law Firm growth and fostering innovation through AI-driven legal solutions.
Growing up with Deaf parents (#CODA), I've always faced the challenge of expressing myself confidently in English, my second language. Despite working with speech pathologists as a child and a public speaking coach as an adult (thank you, Stevie M. Munz, Ph.D.), I still sometimes need help conveying my ideas clearly in verbal and written communication. That's why I'm thrilled about the potential of Generative AI to help me communicate. This tool can translate my thoughts and ideas into clarity. It's like having a superpower that helps me make sense of my thoughts and convey them more clearly and concisely. The 4th industrial revolution is just starting, and I'm excited to explore the possibilities of Generative AI and see where this journey takes us. The future of TR has never looked brighter, and I'm honored to be a part of it! #UsingAI #WorkingatTR"
