I had three touchpoints this week about working in Tech. 1. Interview by MBA career advising team dedicated to Tech industry 2. Call with MBA student interested in Tech work 3. Conversation with Engineering alumnus who works in Finance but wishes he worked in Tech It is interesting to see the different points of view, and to get insight into what people value. Variables that I see at play in these discussions include: generational divides, societal culture, personal values, and mindset. So, this week's career question is: What motivates you? 😀

Amidst today's changing landscape of technology, we're seated front row for a monumental shift in U.S. policy. In the past year, we've witnessed issues like artificial intelligence and data privacy dominate the political landscape, and watched congressional hearings with social media moguls & tech giants alike. Though Congress has made substantial progress in tech policy, this is only the beginning. To be prepared for the technology of tomorrow, our congressional leaders must be educated on the technology of today. Since 2015, TechCongress has worked to bridge the gap between technology and policy by placing computer scientists, engineers, and other technologists to serve as technology policy advisors to Members of Congress. With 9 years and 3 fellowship programs, we have sent over 95 fellows to Congress to conduct groundbreaking work in the tech policy space. As we reach the halfway mark with our 2024 cohort, we're ready to do it all over again with a new class of technologists. Today, we're opening applications for our January 2025 Congressional Innovation Fellowship. We're on the lookout for up to 16 early and mid-career engineers, computer scientists, and technologists to join us in our mission to bring technical expertise to the Hill. Applications are open between now and August 5th, 2024. Though we're excited to get to know you, we know you might want to get to know us first. Over the next few months, we'll be hosting informational calls, sharing current & past fellows' testimonials, and providing insights on both the fellowship & our organization as a whole. To make sure you don't miss out, be sure to follow us on LinkedIn and Twitter/X (@congressfellows). We've also compiled a variety of application & fellowship resources here: https://lnkd.in/e34ycYcQ Let's bridge the gap together: https://lnkd.in/dktVtdv #TechPolicy #PolicyOpportunities #GovernmentJobs #TechJobs #CivicTech #PublicInterestTech #GovTech #GovFellowships #TechFellowships #TechForGood #Government #nowhiring #GovernmentOpportunities #TechOpportunities #Fellowship
