The National Association of Colleges and Employers says that students with internship are more likely to be male, white students who are not first generation, and students who are not recipients of Pell grants. Northern Essex Community College is working to disrupt this pattern, making internships available to all it community college students, including those in liberal arts. We are excited to announce that Pennsylvania Western University has secured a substantial three-year grant of $332,000 from the McElhattan Foundation. This funding will significantly enhance student internship experiences and address workforce needs in Clarion and Venango counties. Please wish me luck in my newest endeavor! I am almost halfway through writing my new book titled "Internships in the Sport Industry: Real-World Endeavors, Competencies, and Best Practices." This work is inspired by my 15 years of guiding and mentoring University of Cincinnati Sport Administration undergraduate students with their practicum and capstone internship experiences. The book aims to benefit both students and practitioners in the sport industry.

Recently, Richard Bland College of William & Mary was the recipient of a SCHEV Impact Grant, which totals more than $3.9 million. This initiative will create more paid internship and work-based learning opportunities for Virginia students to bolster their career readiness and academic growth. APSU students can now connect with local businesses for paid summer internships thanks to a $50,000 grant from the American Job Center. This pilot program, created in partnership with the Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council, offers students real-world experience and college credit while helping local businesses recruit without the hassle, and students get paid directly through the University!
