Ohio’s life sciences ecosystem is growing by leaps and bounds, not only bringing new life-saving and life-lengthening innovations but also high-quality jobs. Fulfilling the industry’s potential requires public and private sector support, and I’m grateful for the Governor and Lt. Governor setting the tone that this is an industry we want to back here in Ohio. Ohio Life Sciences was excited to see a number of our members and life sciences companies on the latest round of approved projects by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA.) These projects and the TCA approval are just further evidence that the life sciences in #Ohio are making an incredible impact. Companies like Gifthealth, AtriCure, Inc. and Mobility Health have great promise and we at OLS are excited to help them and other companies like them reach and exceed their goals. The Unleashing the Potential of our Health Workforce: Scope of Practice Review is in full swing! ESSA’s Policy team attended the Scope of Practice Roadshow in Brisbane last Friday, to continue advocating for exercise physiology per Issues Paper 1. ESSA argued for key reforms of: - Recognition of self-regulating professionals in state and federal legislation - Promotion of multi-professional learning in tertiary education and placements - Opening employment opportunities to aptly qualified and skilled professionals, rather than a specific profession title - Removing jurisdictional inconsistencies of funding and employer settings across legislation - Funding for prevention, specifically the extension of existing items to include high-risk people receiving access prior to developing a condition. This feedback will form the second phase of the consultation and Issues Paper 2. We look forward to sharing more updates of the review process with you in due course. 🌟An Update from the #WIBiohealthTechHub 🌟 The ongoing effort to establish Wisconsin as a prominent national technology hub just received a significant boost! The recent passage of a bill in the Legislature signals a promising future for the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub initiative, spearheaded by BioForward. Check out the article to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gg5TYF2X This crucial bill, with nearly unanimous support from legislators, could potentially unlock $7.5 million in state funds, further propelling Wisconsin's bid to compete for up to $70 million in federal grants. This funding, part of the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, aims to bolster regional "tech hubs" like ours, focusing on innovation in personalized medicine and advanced manufacturing. The Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub, encompassing regions beyond Madison and Milwaukee, showcases our state's prowess in tailoring medical treatments to individual needs and advancing cutting-edge technologies. By fostering collaboration among biohealth businesses, colleges, economic development agencies, and workforce training organizations statewide, we're positioning Wisconsin as a global leader in the biohealth industry. Not only does this initiative hold immense promise for our economy, but it also underscores our state's transition from the "Rust Belt" to a dynamic "tech state." With bipartisan support and strategic investments, we're paving the way for transformative growth and innovation in Wisconsin. We extend our gratitude to Sen. Duey Stroebel, Rep. Amanda Nedweski, and all supporters for championing this crucial legislation. Let's continue working together to drive progress and unlock the full potential of Wisconsin's biohealth sector! #BiohealthIndustry #Innovation #EconomicDevelopment #edatechhubs U.S. Economic Development Administration The Capital Times Natalie Yahr

"Last week the Labour Party launched its Life Sciences Plan which has been warmly welcomed across the board by industry, with positive responses from ABPI, Life Arc and others. With a focus on implementation over revolution of the existing Life Sciences Vision, Labour appear to be sending the message that they understand that the sector wants certainty and practicalities over new grand strategies. "Lots will be written over the soundness of this as political strategy and what it means for polling day, though I doubt the next election will be won or lost on life sciences sector policies. However, regardless of the colour of the next government, elements of this plan are likely to be adopted into mainstream policy and it’s interesting to dissect them and what they mean for the North. Bear in mind that at this stage we’ve only seen the outline plan of actions and no detail. "I’m going to start with what’s not in it – MedTech." Read our full blog from Ben Martyn on Labour's Life Sciences Plan and how the proposed actions could mean for the North of England.

With just over 30 days remaining until the start of the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) Health Care Facilities Innovation Conference and Advisory Board Elections, I wanted to share my platform with you all. Please take just 3 short minutes to listen to my message, and if you agree, please share with all of your colleagues and friends in the industry. "Over the years, ASHE has demonstrated excellence through advocacy in code and compliance matters, the education of our membership, and by providing the state and national networking opportunities that we all enjoy. So why not leverage that strength and expand that capability beyond the current membership? Why not advocate, educate, network, and share our message with those who we depend on to properly fund our facility operations?" Now is the time to change our trajectory. There is a false narrative that money invested in healthcare infrastructure has no return. We simply need to tell our story in a different way. Vote "Yes" for increased infrastructure investment. Julian Alssid and Kaitlin LeMoine thank you very much for this article. As you know, listening to what leaders in any situation say may be interesting, but the focus should always be on what they do. What you stated at the end of the article was extremely insightful: "Straight talk, focused educational initiatives, and clear results matter. Now is the hour for our candidates to earn trust through their actions."
