A few months ago, I had the experience of attending an interview at a renowned company in the UAE for an Environmental Specialist position. During the interview, I met with the manager, who assigned me a task to prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for an existing plant in 10 minutes. I informed him that for existing project, Environmental Monitoring can be performed to continuously assess the environmental performance. Monitoring of various environmental parameters will be carried out to manage ongoing environmental impacts. EIA is not applicable for the plant as EIAs are only conducted for proposed projects, and since the plant had been operational for many years, an EIA was not applicable. Later, I received feedback from HR that I was rejected because the manager felt I was overconfident and pointed out that he had given me the wrong task. The purpose of this post is to seek advice: Is there a better way to respectfully correct a manager during the interview? Is it wrong to identify an issue during an interview, or should we refrain from saying anything?
