There was a time couple of years ago, people shied away from mentioning 'thermal power' and that too through coal. Better understanding was needed. Climate concerns, energy's carbon footprint necessitate that we ramp down, and de-escalate coal based capacities. It is true. Future is renewable, people said, and it is true. But energy transition is important. During transition, coal plays an important role. Here 2x800 MW is a decent approach. Higher the 'unit size', better it is from Sustainability perspective. Unit efficiency, meaning 'quantum of energy converted per unit of coal' is higher in higher size units. The concern is of capex recovery and 'full life utilization'. BTG order placed now, units getting commissioned by 2030, then 35-40 active years of unit life, we shall be close to 2070. The year we all know. GOD bless.
Power is one of the vital elements for the growth of any Nation. To strive for energy security of our Nation by adding the capacity of thermal power generation by 2031-32, inline with the vision of our Chairman, Adani Group has entered into one more Contract with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for BTG of 2X800MW Raigarh Ph-II Project in Chhattisgarh in India. A Legacy of Value, A Future of Promise Today, we honour the remarkable journey that has made ONGC a national asset. Every milestone achieved by us is because of our people who are behind this success story. As the energy landscape evolves, ONGC strives to develop world-class human capital which will shape our industry in the times ahead. As we celebrate 69 years of ONGC, it is important to recognize that our journey is far from over. The energy industry is at a crossroads, with technological advancements, market dynamics, and environmental considerations reshaping the way we operate. The challenges we face now are not just about discovery, but about sustainability and innovation. The world is moving towards cleaner, more sustainable forms of energy, and ONGC is at the forefront of this transformation. Our vision is clear: to lead the way in this energy transition while continuing to ensure that India’s energy needs are met. This is not just a goal - it is a responsibility that we carry with pride. Just like we did in the past, we will rise to the occasion. Our legacy is one of resilience and innovation, and it is this legacy that will guide us as we navigate the challenges of the future.
69 Years of #ONGC: Fueling India’s Progress, Empowering the Future When ONGC was founded, India was a young nation with aspirations as vast as its untapped potential. The task before us was clear but formidable: to discover and harness the energy resources that would power a nation on the brink of transformation. In those early years, our focus was on discovering the reserves of oil and gas that would fuel India’s industrial revolution. A defining moment in this journey came on February 18th, 1974, when ONGC’s drilling rig, Sagar Samrat, first struck oil at Mumbai High. Spanning approximately 1,200 square kilometers, this vast and unique oil field became the largest ever discovered in India. We were driven by a sense of purpose, knowing that every barrel of oil we brought to the surface was a step towards self-reliance. Throughout our tenure in the energy sector, we have witnessed ONGC evolve - not just as an organization, but as a key part of India's success story. The journey has been one of relentless pursuit - to secure energy, to bring about technological advancements and to boost national pride. The challenges we faced were daunting, from securing energy supplies to building the infrastructure that would power our nation’s ambitions. But what has remained constant is ONGC’s promise to create value for India, a pledge that's gotten stronger with time. As our journey continued, ONGC took on the mantle of not just an explorer but a builder of infrastructure that would become the lifeline of Indian industries. ONGC's Hazira Plant stands out as a gem in its portfolio showcasing top-notch industrial performance. This facility, the biggest sour-gas processing complex in India, has a key part to play in natural gas production. I can't stress enough how important the Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur (HVJ) pipeline is. It acts as a crucial supply line for many industries across the country. The Hazira Plant influences sectors ranging from fertilizers to power, petrochemicals to domestic supply. Its effects reach every part of India strengthening ONGC's position as a key contributor to the nation's industrial advancement. All these jewels in the crown marked the beginning of a new chapter where India no longer had to rely solely on foreign resources to fuel its ambitions.

Innovation: The Key to Sustained Success As we look forward, it is clear that innovation will be the driving force behind ONGC’s continued success. ONGC's Digital Centre of Excellence will spearhead the use of Industry 4.0 technologies to boost operations and productivity. Moreover, ONGC's partnerships with global oil giants like Exxon, Chevron, Total, Shell and Equinor show our aim to engage in worldwide discussions to enhance our exploration and production abilities. We are acutely aware of the responsibilities that come with being a leader in the energy sector. The global shift towards sustainability is not a challenge to be met, it is an opportunity to be seized. ONGC has outlined a bold plan to cut carbon emissions aiming to reach net zero by 2038. ONGC has set a new standard with its sustainability investment of Rs 2 lakh crore. To make this happen, ONGC has created ONGC Green Limited, a -owned subsidiary. This new company will focus on new energy sources like renewables, biofuels, biogas, carbon capture, use and storage (CCUS), and green hydrogen.
