Two months until the start of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, and I'll be at Edgbaston for the Central Sparks game against The Blaze. So what must I do between now and then to be ready?
Team Previews - Ensure they are informative and add to the experience. These aren't always the easiest things to write, but people like to read them.
Make and update player profiles with updated stats and information on each player - not over the top with information, but enough to add something to the conversation.
Up-to-date team stats, where the team's strengths and weaknesses are, and also a view on any milestones and records that could be broken.
Interview players and coaches - What are the stories out there, coming from a creative writing background the human aspect of those that will be playing is essential to me and there are loads of stories that deserve to be told but don't.
Talk to people - There may be somethinmay bet I hadn't considered, but the pers, epctive operspectiven help inform and bring aspects of the game to life.
Attend pre-season friendlies if possible and just get back into the swing of watching cricket from the ground. It's just as important for those covering the action as it is for those playing.
Most of all though try to have fun and not take things too seriously.
