Prevention requires some creative strategic policy and funding levers particularly as healthcare becomes more consumer driven and they usually don’t go to a doctor till they are sick. We need to fully understand consumer behaviour and what is driving them to make unhealthy lifestyle choices and where they are being targeted with messaging . I remember campaigns like Norm on the couch and the Grim Reaper in the 80’s and 90’s but we live in a very different world now. Consumer marketing has done a lot of damage through very effective marketing campaigns for fast food, tobacco and alcohol and now we have the irony of fast drugs like Ozempic using the same method to try and fix it and keep profiting off peoples vulnerability. Is it time our government hired some smart marketing execs to use the same techniques to turn the tide in the other direction ? #strategicmarketing
