I've heard that Dogs can have excellent intuition? Not sure if everyone would agree, but I think my pup does, and he loves Swag!! One of the components of LinkedIn that I appreciate, is that personal celebrations are just as important as the professional ones we share on this platform. Today, I am really excited to share, not an accomplishment of mine - but of my parents, and my family. Over 20 - Years ago, my parents (Manny Ohonme + Tracie Ohonme) started a Non - Profit called Samaritan's Feet International. Created for the purpose of putting shoes on the feet of women, men and children across the world (foreign & domestic) to aid in healthcare, allow for employment and for children to be able to go to school. This organization was modeled after my Father, Manny Ohonme's own personal story of not having shoes until he was a pre-teen, much like the millions upon millions of people's realities right now. This week, my parents will celebrate 10+ Million Shoes given through Samaritans Feet Inc. They are also celebrating the opening of The World Shoe - where they are now creating & producing the first antimicrobial, eco-friendly footwear brand manufactured in Africa. Where they will be contributing to healthcare, but not contributing to the pollution crisis. And if those two accomplishments were not enough - they were featured in Forbes. Which, the inner Business Nerd in me freaked out about for like three hours. I am profoundly proud. Honored to have them as parents.
